CarMax has an immediate opening for the position of Staffing and Retention Supervisor. This is an excellent opportunity to oversee staffing and workforce planning as well as other recruiting related activities associated with hiring. The Staffing and Retention Supervisor is responsible for most recruiting activities at the store level. This includes, but is not limited to, conducting job fairs, overseeing employment applications and administering and participating in direct recruiting. In addition, the Staffing and Retention Supervisor will be responsible for managing a team of customer assistance reps (part-time and full-time) and the store management assistant. Other duties may be assigned as required.
Position requires creativity in developing unique recruiting and retention plans, strategies, and ideas. Candidates must be customer service oriented, proactive and flexible with great follow up skills and attention to detail. Prior Supervisory experience a must; Human Resource or Recruiting related experience a plus. Candidates must demonstrate initiative and ability to work independently. Strong written and oral communication skills are required. College degree preferred. Must be available to work some evenings, weekends and holidays. This position will report directly to the Location General Manager.
Primary responsibilities:
~Oversee and manage the hiring process for all store level positions (non-management)
---utilizing candidate sourcing techniques such as direct recruiting, cold calling, direct mailing, advertising, web searches, networking with Universities and trade schools, and attending off-site job fairs.
---communicating professionally with candidates and prescreening to determine position of interest.
---organizing, scheduling, and running weekly job fairs. This includes reviewing applications, administering testing as well as coordinating interviews and obtaining all necessary management approvals.
---following up with candidates on their employment status, as well as store managers on the status of pending job offers.
---conducting weekly new hire orientation sessions.
---coordinating management candidate's interview schedules with Corporate Recruiters.
~Manage turnover among the staff by overseeing retention related activities (associate moral, exit surveys, store event planning, lunches, picnics, etc.)
---conducting thirty and ninety day New Hire Surveys as well as Exit Interviews for all associates and communicate feedback to the appropriate levels of store management.
---organizing and coordinating store events including meetings, clean ups, lunches, picnics and dinners. This includes ordering/ picking up food, arranging activities, as well as promoting the event with flyers, invitations and voicemails.
~Manage Customer Assistance Representatives as well as Store Management Assistant
---directly managing a staff of up to eighteen associates. This includes creating monthly schedules, holding monthly meetings, and delivering regular performance feedback and annual performance reviews.
---monitoring regular duties and compliance reports to identify areas of opportunity within the department and creating action plans when necessary to improve performance.
