"I knocked the vehicle down a notch for comfort, performance and appearance because, well, it is a TRUCK. it drives a bit rough on the road but you feel the road, which is what you need in a truck. If you end up on ice, snow,or sand the last thing you want is a smooth ride. You want to know what is under you so you can navigate your driving the best possible.
Performance is a bit lower than expected because this beats is 8 cylinders and about 5,000 lbs weight. This is a lot of vehicle to manage. It is not about zippyness or style, it is all about doing what trucks do and keeping you safe while doing it.
Appearance is down a notch for the same reason. It is not an SL55 AMG, but then again it is not a Honda CR-V. This is a truck, an SUV's SUV, built to take it, dish it out, and get you through what you face at any cost, and do it safely.
The AWD, 8 cylinder engine, and large tire-print on the road is exactly what I need when driving in the snow. I have driven on tiny tires of other cars and tried to gun a 4-cyl engine, only to find that many SUVs look good but when duty calls, they flinch. Not so this baby. When driving gets tough and you worry about what lay ahead, you do not think about your MPG or the color of your trim. You don't think about if you have a 6CD changer or a single. You think "I want to get home in one piece please baby get me there." And this one does just that.
Yes it sucks gas. Yes 8cyl is a bigger engine than a 6cyl. Yes it takes a whole 8 seconds to get to 60mph. Yes it costs more to own this vehicle than buying a Civic. But you get what you pay for. I have owned several AWD vehicles but this is the first where I feel as secure as I can. Heck, even closing the driver's door you have to slam it, just like the GM cars of the 1970's. No thin aluminum here. And that is exactly what I expect in an SUV. I did not compromise when I bought this vehicle, and I am thankful for that."
