BMW Z3, what a fun car!,

"The 2002 BMW Z3 is a driving machine. It is packed with every high tech innovation to enhance handling and performance. One example is accelerometers that tell the "Dynamec Stability Control" if you are sliding sideways (yaw) or spinning (axis rotation). Automatic measures will be taken by engine, transmission, and ABS to correct the problem and maintane stability. Although the 2.5 liter engine has enough Hp to spin the rear tires, it will not; because of DSC. However, it will "come out of the hole" and leave you feeling that some part of your butt is still back there. Response to driver input is so exact as to almost be telepathic. If the sun is shining, I will be found out on a 'toot' somewhere. I don't even make excuses. This machine is just fun to drive. I find myself taking the back roads because the trip takes longer, the roads have more curves, and the scenery is better. Gas consumption is good, too. I get 25 mpg and I run it! It doesn't drik much but often, having a 13 gallon tank."

"This is my first BMW automobile. Years ago I owned a BMW R 75/5 motorcycle. It was the most elegantly engineered motorcycle I ever owned. Likewise, the Z3 is a piece of engineering elegancy and at 3000poundw (wet) iis a true "sports" car. It sticks to the road like glue, accelerates crisply, and will stop like it was tied to a stump. The seating position is comfortable but not cushy. You sit so close to the pavement that you worry about your bottom dragging bottom. As a result, the sensation of speed grips you at about 35 MPH. You don't need to go really fast to experience going really fast. However at 85 on the thruway you feel extremely secure. The Z3 is a cornering fool. It has a 50/50 weight distribution and will not break away until 0.83 G's. Don't try this in traffic! It could be dangerous, even to onlookers. The dry pavement stopping ability is equally impressive, like 60 to zero in 105 feet. Again, use the stop pedal with caution unless you want that hulking SUV behind you to park on your convertible top. Having never owned a convertible before I complain about the wind noise but not the exhaust note. I call that engine music! The wind noise is really not much greater than an open moon roof. Quit whining, turn up the H&K sound system and trun on the seat heater and CRUISE. This is not a car you get into and sit down. This is a piece of wearable transportation; a 6 cylinder sport suit! And, if you are looking for roomy, look elsewhere. There is NO storage space save two tiny door pockets and a map pocket. The luggage compartment will hold two carry-on suitcases, period! If you need a truck, buy a truck. Finally, this car is so smart that it has Digital Stability Control that is always on unless you trun it off and there is no service interval. When you trun the key It will light signal leds telling you when service or oil change is coming up. Then they go out and leave you alone. Pay attention to your driving, not a bunch of flashing lights in front of you. The Z3 takes some getting used to, but what sweet misery!"
