Nice but major design flaws, January 25, 2010

"This car was our first minivan, and likely our last from Mazda. While the drive-ability and performance are good, there are some severe defects with this model. We have had the coils fail on multiple occasions as well as the transmission fail completely while in traffic ($3K+). These, sadly, are not that uncommon as we later found out. Do a search on MPV Transmission Failure, for example.

Unless there is some sort of recall compensation from Mazda, I cannot recommend this vehicle."

"Drives like a car. Very manuverable. You can get this van into tight spots with ease. This is a minivan as opposed to the giant sized minivans that aren't so mini anymore. Great gas mileage."

"My husband told me when we got married that he would NEVER buy a minivan. When we tried the Mazda MPV, it didn't feel like a regular minivan. With the V6 engine, he feels like he is driving an SUV, but it also rides more like a car. I LOVE the roll down windows in the back seat. When I was growing up we had a minivan, but we only had windows that cracked open about an inch or two. The other feature that is great is that the back seat folds into the floor. You don't have to store seats when making more room for cargo.
The downside to our MPV is there is not a "door lock" on the passengers side. I like to be able to lock all the doors from the passenger side, but I have to ask my husband to lock the doors. That is my only complaint. Seriously."
