Cant Believe it's a KIA, October 7, 2008

"When people think Kia the first thing that comes to mind is the Kia's of the past.
We were skeptical at first but after purchasing our 2005 Sportage only a few months after they were put back on the market we are still very satisfied with our decision.
First off for the money you get a great deal.
I will go over the pros first.
1. It's a pretty good looking ride. It wont win any awards but I'm glad it does not look anything like the older Sportage which were just ugly.
2. We got the Base Sportage and still got AC/Tilt Power Windows/Doors, Mirrors,Traction Control.
3. Trunk Room is great! We have 3 Big dogs and they fit perfect in the back. Back Seats fold completely down so you can fit a good amount of groceries or other items in the back.
4. Ride is pretty good, quiet and smooth.
5. MPG is decent.
6. Car is great in the snow!
7. CD player is decent and sound is pretty good for factory system.
8. Factory warranty is awesome.
9. Sports Matic Transmission is cool, but not really worth it?
Cons
1. The 4 Cylinder needs more power. Getting up hills can be a pain.
2. Seats Front and back are not very comfortable.
3. Why they put the oil filter under a protective plastic under body I will never understand?
4. Again the power in this thing is pitiful.
5. Starting to get a slight slip in the transmission. Reliability issue?
As you can see the Pro's out weigh the con's. We were extremely skeptical on buying a Kia but now we are glad we did. As far as I know Kia's are pretty much Hyundais anyways and they definitely seem to be producing better cars these past few years."

"I am overall very happy with the sportage. Although the cargo is not as spacious as most SUVs, as a smaller sport model, the gas mileage is improved. The basic ammenities are more than adequate and the car is surprisingly quiet."
