"I couldn't be happier with the 2009 Hyundai Sonata. Of course, I'm upgrading from an 18-year-old car, so you could argue that anything would seem great to me. At first, I thought the shifting was a little ragged, but it must be one of those things where you just get used to your own car, because I honestly don't notice it at all now. Acceleration and handling is good, it's comfortable, nice stereo, good visibility.
I can point out some problems and annoyances with the car. My only serious complaint is that there's a sharp edge on the folded metal around the bottom of the trunk door. The headlights are a bit expensive to replace. Aaaand, that's about it."

"I recently bought a 2009 Hyundai Sonata GLS to replace a 2003 Sonata GLS that I totaled.
I chose a 4 cylinder model for the better gas mileage, which so far has been impressive for a car this roomy. My 2003 Sonata had a 6 cylinder engine and I loved the power. That is the only thing I miss about my old car. Other than acceleration, my new Sonata is better in every way.
The 2009 model is quite a bit larger than the 2003. I use the car mainly for commuting to work and, to be honest, it's a little bigger car than I wanted. I mostly picked the Sonata for it's low resale value (cheaper to buy used) and 60k mile warranty.
The car is roomy inside and has a smooth ride. I've always been impressed by the many standard features Hyundai includes, especially for the price.
I especially love the radio. This is my first mp3 capable radio and I can copy about a dozen albums worth of mp3 files to one CD and it shows me the album and song that's playing. The car also has XM satellite radio built in but I haven't subscribed to it.
The steering wheel doesn't telescope and is a little farther away than I'd like. I'm 6 foot 1 and I keep the seat most of the way back. My wife is 5 foot 1 and hasn't complained about it.
The interior has a nice look and the controls are laid out nice. The seats are comfortable and have plenty of adjustments.
The exterior styling is a little bland. Looks very similar to a Honda Accord, which isn't such a bad thing I guess. I'm sure Hyundai did this on purpose to boost the Sonata's image.
The trunk is very roomy. Our minivan is getting up in years and I'm tempted to drive the Sonata on our family vacation this summer. I think it would be plenty big for 2 adults, 2 young kids."
