Oklahoma City store associates volunteer with Boys & Girls Club

Buyer Aaron Zoeller and Purchasing Manager Greg Long help the children put together their new kites.

On June 30th, the Oklahoma City store associates enjoyed a day of kite flying with the local Boys & Girls Club. The store provided a kite for each child to fly and one to take home with them. What could put a damper on a kite-flying day? No wind! But that did not stop the volunteers and the children from having a great time. "That little obstacle of no wind didn't stop the children in the least,” Management Assistant Ashley Shadle said. “They took their kites outside and they ran up and down those fields until their kite went high in the air. The CarMax volunteers were exhausted!"

The group did run into a few snags, including kites in the trees and knotted up strings, but overall the day was a huge success. According to Ashley, "The farewell from the children was just as enthusiastic as the welcoming. We all enjoyed this very much and are grateful we could help out our community."
