The CarMax Foundation was established in 2003 to support the communities where our Associates live and work. Over the past several years, we've accomplished our goal by providing volunteers, matching gifts, and grants to worthy nonprofit organizations.

Another Great Year for the CarMax Foundation
The CarMax Foundation experienced a record year in FY12,
awarding grants totaling $2.4 million--the highest single year in
the Foundation’s history. Total giving for the Foundation has now reached $12 million.
Highlights included:
- The Regional Giving Program awarded $1.1 million dollars in grants to non-profits in CarMax markets throughout the country.
- Associate participation in Volunteer Team-Builders and Matching Gifts was at an all-time high. CarMax Associates participated in 355 Volunteer Team-Builder events with 95% of all stores and locations participating in at least one event. Non-profits across the country received $329,000 thanks to our Associates’ efforts!
- Through the CarMax Foundation’s Matching Gift Programs, charities supported by individual Associates through donations of time and money received a total of $346,262.
