Miami Lakes Gets Cookin!

CarMax volunteers and Ronald McDonald cook up some fun.

When a child is in the hospital, it can be hard on everyone involved, especially parents and siblings. The Ronald McDonald House program, through more than 270 sites in 52 countries, offers programs providing support for the whole family when a child is in the hospital or receiving hospital treatments. Many of these programs are supported by volunteers, which is why a team from the Miami Lakes store headed to their local Ronald McDonald House to make a delicious meal for the families there.

"I think we made a difference for all the families," Managament Assistant Esther Tedesco said. "They were so thankful to have a hot meal when they returned from the hospital." Esther and team cooked up cheeseburgers, hot dogs, tater tots, baked beans, and even cupcakes.

The team also provided supplies to help the kids prepare for an upcoming holiday—Father's Day. Volunteers helped the kids design unique cards for their dads. Loli Sangiovanni, Special Events and Volunteer Program Coordinator at Ronald McDonald House, said "The event was a complete success! Our families enjoyed every minute."
