Our Volunteer Program provides opportunities for CarMax Associates to make a lasting impact on their communities. Associates participate in the Volunteer Program as part of a team-building activity or individually.
Through The CarMax Foundation, a store, regional, CarMax Auto Finance, or Home Office manager can make a team-building event more rewarding. Not only does the team provide an important service to the community or organization, but the nonprofit organization is then eligible to receive a grant from The CarMax Foundation.
If an individual CarMax Associate volunteers at least 10 hours with a charitable organization, The CarMax Foundation will match their time with a donation of $10 per hour.

Albuquerque Volunteers Set a New Dog Wash Record
On August 29, 2010, a team of Albuquerque Purchasing Associates probably had some wrinkly fingers after giving 84—yes EIGHTY- FOUR baths! The team visited a local kennel for the Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department to help get the dogs clean for potential new families. The CarMax volunteers were well organized with various stations so the dogs could be washed, then dried, and have the chance to spend a little more time outside on a gorgeous sunny day.
Volunteer Coordinator for the Animal Welfare Department Paul Caster said, "The CarMax team set a new dog wash record! Each person made a huge difference in the lives of our animals. We know how much it helps when people pet a clean dog and see them at their best. We can't thank CarMax enough for their work and we have invited them to come back to help others be adopted!"
