Ready for some spook-tacular fun?
The midnight hour is close at hand and all the cool ghouls this season want the most spook-tacular vehicles they can find. If that sounds like you, you'll want a vehicle that's hauntingly good with exhaust pipes that would scare a werewolf. Do you dare take one of these rides out for a spin under the full moon? These seven frightfully wicked cars will get you to your favorite haunts in no time.
1. Mazda MX-5
Mazda's 2019 MX5 Miata is a thriller of a ride, rolling out with 181 horsepower in a small but mighty package.
Mazda's 2019 MX5 Miata is a thriller of a ride, rolling out with 181 horsepower in a small but mighty package. That's an addition of 21 horsepower over the 2018 model, which would be an advantage if you're trying to outrun the zombies on your tail. The 2019 MX-5 Miata is available in three trims: Sport, Club, and Grand Touring. If you're a vampire who prefers to feel more at home, go with the hardtop Sport. The Club and Grand Touring are available with a soft-top or retractable hardtop so you can let your hair (and fangs) down.
With a trim called Hellcat, is there any wonder this car is a favorite of the underworld?
With a trim called Hellcat, is there any wonder this car is a favorite of the underworld? Luckily, those of us up on the surface can still enjoy this classic muscle car's aggressive and raw power. A new 797-horsepower SRT Hellcat Redeye model debuted in 2019, satisfying even the most rabid—ahem, loyal—fans of the Dodge Challenger. With a supercharged 6.2L V8 engine, a 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat will generate a thoroughly bone-chilling 717 horsepower. However, the Demon SRT is still prowling around: the 2018 model offers 808 horsepower as standard and 840 horsepower unlocked. Whoa. You look like you just saw a ghost.
3. Toyota 86
The Toyota 86, formerly know as the Scion FR-S (until the 2016 model year), was jointly developed by Toyota and Subaru; it's all the wicked fun you can pack into a 2+2 coupe. Even the headless horseman could not keep up with the power of this sports car, which packs 205 horsepower with a manual and 200 horsepower with the automatic powertrain. For 2019 models, the 86 comes standard with a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Bluetooth®, and USB connectivity.
4. Ford Mustang
It's rumored that vampires can be warded off with the B&O® premium stereo, so we suggest you test that theory by blasting your favorite tunes as you zip away.
Ford's Mustang is available in coupe and convertible body styles and five trim levels: EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium, GT, GT Premium, and the 2019 Bullitt. If you're really chasing down a poltergeist, the 2019 Bullitt fits the bill with a 480-horsepower 5.0L V8 engine. It's available in an exclusive Dark Goblin Green—er... Dark Highland Green, that is—which will surely impress the other ghostbusters. Or to really fly, you might want a high-performance Shelby GT350 or GT350R version. It's rumored that vampires can be warded off with the B&O® premium stereo, so we suggest you test that theory by blasting your favorite tunes as you zip away. Optional Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ will give you the opportunity to play your own personal scary playlist right off your smart device (2015 to present models). The back-up camera, remote keyless entry, and cruise control (2015 to present) give you a few less things to worry about.
No tricks and all treats, the Fiat 124 Abarth is nimbler than a creepy clown, livelier than the boogeyman, and certainly more attractive than a zombie. The Abarth trim is made for a punchy, sporty drive, and its lightweight feel is reminiscent of a bat's wing. The 2019 Fiat 124 is available in three not-so-scary trims: the base Classica, the middle-of-the-road Lusso, and the made-for-speed Abarth. Look for the convenience group for blind-spot and rear cross-traffic warning systems, rear cross-parking sensors, and a security alarm (models 2016 to present). You don't want any random ghoul trying to steal your sweet ride, after all.
6. Honda Civic
You can get the 2019 Honda Civic as a sedan or a coupe, but when you want the feel of a sports car with the practicality of a sedan, the coupe is a ghoulishly delightful option. Need somewhere to stash your broomstick? The 2019 Civic Sport offers a split-folding rear seatback and 12.1 cubic feet of cargo space. In the base 2019 Si model, you'll have a 2.0L engine, and the EX and Touring models include a 1.5L turbocharged option. You'll surely howl for this vehicle in Lunar Silver Metallic.
The Volkswagen Beetle may have been retired in 2019, but that doesn't mean you can't resurrect the soul of this iconic vehicle every time you slide behind the wheel. If you prefer the dark, enclose yourself in a coupe and smash through every giant spider web you see. If you want to drink in the light of the blood moon, peel open the roof of the convertible version and go to town.
