I've had many convertibles over the years; all American makes. This Audi is amazingly quiet with the top up & has all the bells & whistles my previous rag tops did not have. It has terrific fit & finish one would expect from German engineering. It has a very solid feel no matter the road surface or the weather. Everything is tight; no rattles, shake or shimmy! When I see the car or get into the cockpit to drive I just smile!
Excellent choice I was looking at Mercedes C and E Class (E class was a little over what I was wanting to spend) - Cadillac CTS, BMW 3 series and for the value the A4 gave me more of what I was looking for. Sharp vehicle inside and out lots of fun features, great performance and pick up for a 4 cylinder turbo engine, also great on gas. Would have loved the A6 but a little more than I wanted to spend as this is my second car. I would strongly consider the A6 over the E Class and BMW 5 Series for my next purchase. Audi has come a long way and after doing all my research and speaking with friends who own shops/mechanics they say that Audi is a safe buy when it comes to reliability. Again very comfortable, smooth ride, great accessories, Audi Symphony Stereo all great quality. Large trunk space for at least 2-3 sets of golf clubs and plenty of space for the driver vs some of the competition.
This car is very reliable to drive. I feel very safe and have had no issues whatsoever in the time I have owned it. I like its compact size. I've been able to put my niece and nephew (and their carseats) in the back and they still have enough room. I did a lot of research before purchasing the car, so I would advise anyone else to do the same, regardless if they are thinking about an A4 or another vehicle. I definitely would recommend it. The gas mileage is great. I fill up once every 2.5-3 weeks, full tank of premium gas is $30-35. The only downside to the car is if it is windy outside, I feel like the car swerves a bit.
With a history that dates back to 1994, the Audi A4 is one of the Volkswagen Group's best-selling vehicles. Specifically, the A4 refers to a compact executive car produced and manufactured in Germany. Currently in its fifth generation of production, the A4 has seen some changes throughout the years. For example, at one point, the vehicle was available as both a sedan and station wagon. In more recent years, we've seen the A4 as a coupe, convertible, and compact vehicle. For those looking for a luxury sedan with a sleek design and powerful engine, the A4 may be worth your time. Even those with small families can appreciate the great safety ratings from NHTSA and surprisingly spacious (for a compact vehicle) rear seat.
The A4 has been in continuous production since its release in 1994, with the current generation referred to as the "B9" release. This generation first began production back in 2015 and was released in a few different body styles, including a traditional sedan, Avant, and All-Road Quattro. For 2017, the A4 has undergone a redesign with a number of significant changes and upgrades, such as:
There are three main trim levels available on the A4: Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige (the same trim level names used for many of Audi's vehicles). All trim levels come with standard front-wheel drive and automatic transmission. Additional packages, such as the Ultra sub-trim, are also available to add fuel efficiency and other upgrades.
Drivers enjoy the fact that all trim levels on this vehicle come with either a turbo-or supercharged engine, and the driving experience offered by the A4 is unrivaled by competitors in a number of ways. Specifically, drivers enjoy the massive power that comes with even the standard four-cylinder engine, and it is worth noting that its acceleration matches its biggest competitor (the BMW 328i) for fastest in its class. The A4 also boasts strong braking and handling, which makes the vehicle a lot of fun to drive. But the A4 could have used a little more improvement in terms of its steering. Compared to some competitors, the steering lacks engagement despite its three customizable settings.
A couple of the Audi A4's most notable competitors include the BMW 328i and the Cadillac ATS, both smaller luxury vehicles at similar price points. With MSRP for the 2017 model year starting at around $35,000, however, the Audi is a great value compared to similar vehicles on the market that tend to start in the lower-to-mid 40s. Not to mention, Audis are known for their low maintenance costs.
Since the Audi A4 is manufactured in Germany, however, it is worth noting that replacement parts can sometimes be difficult to come by when needed, and often have to be shipped in. This can lead to high repair costs, should you ever need any substantial work done. You can save by buying a used Audi A4, which you can typically find in the mid-$20,000s.
The overall design of the A4 hasn't changed much in the past several years, especially since 2015 when the most recent generation was introduced by Audi. On the outside, you'll find:
In terms of vehicle performance, drivers appreciate the convenient engine start-stop system that helps to save fuel and yet is barely noticeable when it kicks in. The A4 also gets high rankings for its acceleration, especially when merging at highway speeds. In fact, the A4 is able to go from zero to 60 mph in just over five seconds.
The Audi A4 comes standard with a four-cylinder engine that has been turbocharged to 252 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. All vehicles also come standard with front-wheel drive and an S tronic seven-speed automatic transmission. Despite the engine only being a four-cylinder, you likely wouldn't know it while driving the car because of its massive power. There have been rumors that a six-speed manual option will be made available at some point in 2017.
Take one look at the Audi A4 and it will be abundantly clear that you're looking at a luxury vehicle. Its sleek design and interior features are quite impressive and include:
Despite a couple of shortcomings, the Audi A4 is an overall excellent option for those looking to purchase a luxury compact vehicle.
