Great Wagon

Had wanted a sporty wagon for a number of year and finally got it. Originally wanted the Outback turbo, but they stopped making it. Same for the BMW 5 Series Wagon, the A6 Wagon and the Passat Wagon. I was left with looking at a BMW 3 series wagon, the A4 Avant, the Jetta Wagon and the Acura TSX wagon - the new Subaru Outback has gotten too SUV like and while its very practical, the handling/driving experience has gone downhill. The Jetta was just not upscale enough and the TSX is front wheel drive, a bit underpowered and a very difficult back seat to get into. Both the 3 Series Wagon the A4 are hard to find and the 2012 A4 Avant is the last year Audi will make it (it's being replaced with an A4 Allroad for 2013). Anyway, test drove both cars and really like the A4 Avant - a bit larger and better gas mileage. But I really liked the look of it better, was able to get a very good deal on it with very attractive financing. I got a Monsoon Gray/Blk with Premium Plus and NAV. It's a beautiful wagon (a friend described it as "sexy"). Handles really well with very good - though not great - power. Power is the only category that the BMW had the advantage. I've only got about 2,500 miles on the Avant, but I really love driving it. My only complaints are that I wish the rear area was a bit bigger for my dog and that the MMI NAV system is not particularly intuitive to me and I'm going to need to spend more time with the manual and practicing things.

fast

This car was a great purchase. It was fun to drive and had multiple luxury options for a reasonable price. It is a bit on the small side for me (6'2") so I traded for an suv. I would recommend this car to anyone who wants a fun car with luxurious options at a good price.

Great, but...

You can't not like driving an Audi. But, you must be prepared for an expensive car. I don't get nearly the gas mileage I was promised. And though recommended that I could use low-grade gas, there is a noticeable difference, so I bumped back to mid-grade. The combination of those two things is quite expensive for someone who drives decent mileage. Driving is comfortable and appearance is wonderful, but expect to need oil more often than your standard 3,000 oil change. You will probably have to add a pint every 1,500. As a heads up, you're looking for 10W-40 oil. Bottom line, if you have the money, it's definitely worth it. But, if you're looking for economical, not the car for you. The price tag is only the beginning.
