Customer Review Summary for Audi Q7

Great Automobile

2012 Audi Q7 Dennis Jackson - Aiken, SC 12/26/2015

This is a very well made car. Some don't like the weight, but I like the fact that is a heavier car, holds the road very well, has a super charged engine so it gets on down the road, I purchased this car for my wife and she absolutely loves it. Handling is great and the ride is very smooth. I have a Cadillac Deville this car won't out run it but it sure rides better and is more comfortable.

2012 Audi Q7 Robert O'Donnell - Island Heights, NJ 04/02/2016

Audi Q7 Overview

With production dating back to November of 2005, the Audi Q7 is among this German car manufacturer's newer releases. The Audi Q7 wasn't released in the United States until 2007, but it has seen a great deal of popularity here ever since. Specifically, the Audi Q7 falls into the category of luxury crossover SUV. Currently, the vehicle is in its second generation of production, with the new 2017 redesign recently released. For drivers looking for a spacious, well-designed SUV with a powerful engine, the Audi Q7 may very well be worth checking out.

How It Drives

It is worth noting that the Q7 is Audi's largest crossover SUV, weighing in at nearly 5,000 pounds. Still, its size isn't obvious while driving. The handling and maneuverability are surprisingly precise for a vehicle of its size, and the ride is extremely smooth thanks to the adaptive air suspension and four-wheel steel option. Those who have test driven the V6 version of this vehicle have noted that acceleration is very impressive, especially when merging onto the freeway. Braking is smooth and consistent, and many drivers appreciated the included features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and even forward-facing cameras.

Used Audi Q7 Value

As a luxury crossover, you will expect to pay a pretty penny for this vehicle, even if you're buying used. New MSRP for the 2017 Q7 start at $55,000, which is quite a jump from pricing on previous model years. Opt for the top-level trim option and you'll easily add $10,000 to your price tag. Still, when it comes to resale value, Audis tend to hold their own against the competition. The Q7's main competitor, the Volvo XC90, comes in slightly less expensive but doesn't have as many standard features. Still, if you're interested in buying a Q7 without the $50,000+ price tag, you can always purchase a pre-owned vehicle from a previous model year and easily knock $15,000 or more off the MSRP for a new one.

Design & Performance

The Audi Q7 boasts a sleek design that turns heads, and its performance makes it a great car for those who like a little power behind the wheel but don't want to sacrifice a premium driving experience in the process. Some of the performance features of the Q7 worth noting include:

  • Acceleration of zero to 60 in less than six seconds
  • Towing capacity of up to 4,000 pounds (7,700 for the V6)
  • Average of 23 mpg for the V6 (22 for the four-cylinder)
  • Supercharged or turbocharged engines on all trim levels

Powertrain & Engine

The Audi Q7 comes with two engine options: a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 252 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, and a 3.0L V6 with 333 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. Regardless of the engine option you choose, the vehicle is also equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission as well as all-wheel drive, resulting in an excellent driving experience on all trims. An Adaptive Chassis package can also be added (and comes standard on some trim levels) for an even better driving experience, though you can expect to tack another $4,000 onto your MSRP should you choose this option.

Body Style & Interior Comfort

When it comes to the body styling of the Q7, you will notice some pretty significant changes if you compare the 2017 release to previous model years. The height of the vehicle remains the same, but not much else. It has a very aerodynamic design that has resulted in improved fuel economy from previous years. Other styling features include:

  • 18-inch alloy wheels
  • LED running lights
  • An angular grille
  • A sleeker profile

Inside, drivers and passengers enjoy an upgraded infotainment system and plenty of headroom and legroom. Even with all the seats occupied, there is still nearly 15 cubic feet of cargo space. Fold down the second and third rows of seats and you're looking at more than 70 cubic feet.
