I bought one of the first TT convertibles entering the US, so I expected some teething problems, but it has been remarkably problem-free in the 8 years I have owned the car (the longest I have ever owned a car in my life, which just goes to show how much I like it). The one issue I did experience was a jerky speedometer, which was covered by a recall on the instrument cluster. Other than that, hassle-free. I am sure being based on VW Rabbit underpinnings has something to do with that. While it won't blow a Porsche away, it is very nimble, sure-footed, and a ton of fun. 4WD contributes to it never breaking away from you under extreme cornering - it's entirely predictable with no surprises for the driver.
Truly exceptional driving experience. I use this car as a daily driver. it is very comfortable and smooth. When I want more performance and edge in the feel press the S mode button. This stiffens up the suspension and throttle response. The steering feel and control are incredible. This car is not all that light but it does feel extremely nimble and inspires a ton of confidence in every corner. The AWD keeps the power to the road in all conditions. the power can be added early exiting a curve with no worry about losing control.
Love this car! I'd wanted it long before I bought it, and I am not disappointed. Besides its gorgeous looks (and it is stunning!), it handles like a true sports car: 3.2L engine, six cylinders... and it has the sports option (which I don't use, but my racecar-driving friend used once and GOLLY, this car is FAST). It's a little difficult to get out of the car, but that's because I'm old and feeble. The car sits very low to the ground, so I have to launch myself from it (usually successfully). There is very little storage room in the interior (only two seats, and no real console storage), but the trunk is good-sized. The car gets very low gas mileage, so it's a fortune to fill up these days (with premium gas at $4+). It's got a ten-gallon tank, so I'm at the pump quite a bit. But it's well worth it, as I tool around with the top down. I'd definitely buy this car all over again, and I love the Audi. It's so solid... I'm sure I'm not maximizing its performance, but it's fun to know I could!
