The E90 M3 is the greatest sports sedan in the world. Tons of power from a truly beautiful V8 engine. The exhaust note goes from a throaty growl at low revs to an insane, mind-erasing scream at redline. Despite the bulges in the fenders and hood, the car blends into the crowd - until you open up the throttle. The M-DCT transmission is a little lumpy when cold and a bit awkward at very low speeds, but the upshifts are brutally fast and the rev-matched downshifts plaster a grin on your face.
Make no mistake: this is NOT a "luxury car" like a base 3 series. The suspension is extremely stiff, especially with the competition package. But if you want the fastest, hardest, craziest, lap-record-setting 4-person car that money can buy, get an M3.
FAST! But is already getting work done
2013 BMW 535Steve Coker - Parker, CO03/23/2017
The car is sleek and fun to drive and is getting about 25mpg, which I think is pretty good. I like the features in the car and it has been a pleasure to own.
I do currently have it in for warranty work and I guess they found a transmission leak as well as an oil leak, which is unnerving at 22k miles, but they are covering it all and gave me a new X5 as a loaner while they fix it... so I would say just be sure to get the extended warranty.
Sporty but comfortable, not big but practical.
2011 BMW 328Alec H - Irvine, CA02/12/2016
This is my first BMW to see if the hype is real. After owning this car for 5 mos I can say that it is real. This 3 wagon handles great with all controls being very linear and with good feedback. When driven mellow with little passengers the ride is very comfortable and controlled, not harsh and bouncy like some other sporty cars. This is a great combo for parents who need some practicality for hauling little ones around, but don't want to give up driving fun.
