Transmission: Automatic Color:White Interior Color: Black Average Vehicle Review: (4.727 reviews) The car is sleek and fun to drive and is getting about 25mpg, which I think is pretty good. I like the features in the car and it has been a pleasure to own. I do currently have it in for warranty work and I guess they found a transmission leak as well as an oil leak, which is unnerving at 22k miles, but they are covering it all and gave me a new X5 as a loaner while they fix it... so I would say just be sure to get the extended warranty.

Not your E28 or E39

The handling is just not what it should be. I am a tried and true 5 series owner and love the balance that used to be there. It just seems too big and lacks the legendary handling, even with the sports package and a manual transmission. The 2011 has very strange placements of interior items - this did change for the better later on. Don't get me wrong - this has incredible power and ease of use. It is just not the great drive it used to be. Get a 428 or a 435 Gran Coupe instead.

Promise Fulfilled

After changing jobs where I had a 2009 Mercedes company car, I bought a 350z for fun. I drive over an hour to work each way and as much as the Z was fast and fun it was not comfortable. One of my coworkers had a 528i and I really liked it but I have a 328i that never excited me. I was looking at MB E series and Lexus instead. After getting a great trade in I was wandering the CarMax lot and stumbled upon a a black 535i with medium brown leather interior. This car is absolutely beautiful and drives like a dream. The twin turbo with the 3.0L six is smooth and powerful. It looks classy and has more toys than Santa. It cruises at 80 mph like standing still. This big car is giving me 22.1 mpg in mixed conditions, only 1 mpg less than the tiny 350z.

Indeed the ULTIMATE Driving Machine

This is the PERFECT configuration of a BMW for most drivers! The 300 hp twin turbo v6 engine has no lag, great torque and more horsepower to push you over all the legal speed limits in the US freeways within 6-8 seconds! Even overtaking traffic going uphill with a full load is so fluid and effortless. A surprise to so many trying it out for the first time. For those who have felt other turbo equipped cars, you will be very surprised at how silent and smooth this one is. You'll only feel the torque pushing you back in your chair until you release the gas. It's pretty good for a turbo V6 gas efficiency wise...you'll likely average around 24 mpg driving freeway and city streets in the Southern California area. Like many modern BMW models, it is governed at 150mph, but if it wasn't, it's got so much more juice in it to go past that (why spend more on the more expensive models?). This car is made in Munich, Germany. It is made to drive on the Autobanh (with no speed limits) and last a long time. In fact, the break in recommendation is not to drive it over 100 mph the first 1200 miles. The 5 series sedan is just the right size for having up to 3 people in the car (the 3-series is really too tight for that compared to the 5), and the trunk has a nice large storage space that fits large luggage plus more. This car is meant for the driver to enjoy driving. Elegant, sophisticated inside, and responsive to your driving, one becomes one with the car and feels the trip with an air of comfort, elegance and confidence on the road.
