The M Coupe is an awesome performance vehicle. It is absolutely gorgeous with the coupe's roofline and profile correcting the weird trunklid and ugly roll roll bars from the roadster. And on the coupe the taillights look like they belong, unlike on the roadster. From a performance standpoint, this car flatout moves. It is both very fast in a straight line and handles twisty roads with ease. The engine puts out gobs of power, most of it available from low-mid rpm. This 3.2 liter inline six is possibly one of the finest six cylinder engines ever produced. The shifter and the six-speed transmission are very precise and the wide rear tires put the power down nicely. Stomp on the brake pedal and the binders and cross-drilled rotors slam you to a halt with incredible force -- it's like throwing an anchor out the back of the vehicle. If you're looking for a car you can take to a track day, run a bunch of hot laps in, then drive home you've found your ride. The same tight suspension and sharp handling that make this car so fun on a mountain road or racetrack make it a bit harsh for a daily driver, but it's definitely liveable. The interior is attractive and - shall we say - purpose built to be a driver's car. Everything is within easy reach of the driver with brushed aluminum applied liberally through the cockpit. The M seats are covered in rich leather and very supportive and will definitely hold you in place through the turns - though the seat bottom feels an inch or two too narrow even to my medium build backside. They are not particularly comfortable for long cruises either. The trunk/cargo hatch is big enough to fit two suitcases and a small bag, but not much more. The battery is in trunk in the M and it eats up some cargo space. The sound system is pretty good - but not out of this world - but you're not looking at a car like this for its stereo, are you? My biggest complaint is the sat-nav system. The software architecture is not intuitive in the slightest. The menus are not logically laid out and simply searching for a point of interest is quite the chore. It seems like the BMW engineers backlashed too hard against iDrive as all you have to navigate is one small knob on the dash to you rotate to scroll and click in to select. I definitely expected a better on-board computer/sat-nav on a car in this price range. Overall this sports car is an absolute joy to drive. Effortless acceleration, sharp handling, movie-star looks, and the relative rarity of this vehicle (compared to othe Bimmers) bring a smile to my face on a daily basis. Definitely recommend. -AAS
This vehicle is a weekender and I wanted a great guality vehicle for the price. I know I wanted to still have the waranty just in case something went wrong. I took the car to the BMW Dealer and they did the yearly service, oil change and fixed the cup holder for FREE. I still have one year left on the warranty. I also paid for a 5 year extended warranty because its worth it. Hopefully I will enjoy driving down the beach with the top down and looking good.. Take care and thanks for all your hard work to give me a great deal..
Excellent construction. Gorgeous looks. Fast! Love the sports package ( entirely 3 different suspension / transmission) configurations. 2800 mile road trip averaged 30.1 mpg.
