I absolutely love my 2006 Lucerne. Even purchasing the premium fuel in times when fuel is extremely expensive is a plus because it uses minimal amounts. I never let it get below half and it takes two weeks to do that! The appearance is phenomenal. Other drivers look twice - then try to see the name on the car. I purchased my Lucerne as my "retirement car" and I could not have made a better choice.
The Buick Lucerne CXS is a high quality, large American made luxury sedan that has proven to be a very reliable vehicle. I average 2,000 to 3,000 highway miles per month and the Lucerne provides a very comfortable environment for this amount of travel coupled with superior handling, cargo room, space for five adults and a solid 28 mpg on the highway. The CXS is the top of the line model providing a refined suspension system, upgraded interior, larger wheels, enhanced exterior features and the Northstar V8. The performance is brisk. It is not your grandfather's Buick of yesteryear. My 14 year-old granddaughter commented that my car was very sporty looking and was surprised that I was driving such a car. The size, quality, comfortable and quiet ride makes the Lucerne CXS the ideal car for me and I highly recommend it for long distance travelers and family use.
The Buick Lucerne with the V8 engine is quite powerful and drives almost like a sports car with it's rack and pinion steering. The front wheel drive allows one to be more precise than with rear wheel drive. There is almost a growl sound to the engine. This car has many automated features that take quite a while to figure out. The graphic indicators seem to be counter intuitive in some cases. The back up assist is great, especially with the limited visibility of the high rear window. The heated seats are a great option here in Wisconsin. Air conditioned seats are also available. The remote start is a great option to get the car pre-cooled in the summer months while loading groceries in the trunk, or to give it a short warm up period in the winter. Overall, it is a neat car, but it could have a few additional options such as dual visors like on my old Mercury Grand Marquis to make it better. The driver and passenger seats in both the bench seat model and the model with the center console are identical type bucket seats. Much space seems wasted with the large center console. However, the CXS model with the magnetic rde control only comes with the center console, so that's what we got due to the better ride it and the 18 inch wheels provide.
