Customer Review Summary for 2012 Cadillac CTS

Fun car with great value

2012 Cadillac CTS Dale Harrison - Jacksonville, FL 09/10/2015

My CTS is the 3.6L, which allows 87 octane. So, not only is it a fun and quick car to drive, but it is good on gas. I was looking for a nice, sporty car with luxury and I found it with the CTS. After getting the car I was very happy with the service I experienced at the local Cadillac dealer. The car handles great and has plenty of power for everyday driving.

Awesome Rocket of a Car

2012 Cadillac CTS Charles Ottinger - NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV 07/01/2016

Best Horsepower per Dollar ratio of a car you can get! 556 to be exact!

Awesome Ride

2012 Cadillac CTS Adam - San Diego, CA 12/21/2014

A little background on me. I am a 24 year old marketing professional, and also a bachelor. I got a great job out of school, and wanted a car to reflect my personality. If you live where I live in Southern California, every other car on the road is a BMW, or a Mercedes. I wanted something professional, fast, and that separated me from the heard so to speak. The V is perfect. You can pretty much smoke any car on the road, looks professional, and does not draw a lot of police attention. If you have some money to blow, and don't care about gas mileage. Just get this car! Not a bad thing to say.

2012 Cadillac CTS Overview

The Cadillac CTS is an entry-level luxury sport sedan that offers a great driving experience. It also has a wide variety of customization options, including three body styles, two engine types, and both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. With a variety of trim options and feature packages, it will be easy to find a 2012 Cadillac CTS that fits your own style and taste.

2012 Cadillac CTS History

The CTS was tweaked only slightly in the 2012 edition. Cadillac added a bit of depth to the CTS by integrating a more vertical design for the front grille, and subtly changed the Cadillac logo.

  • The 2012 Cadillac CTS is a part of the second generation of the lineup.
  • The first generation of Cadillac CTS vehicles was introduced in 2003.

How It Drives

Though the Cadillac CTS has many configuration options and combinations, some of its traits are universal. Specifically, it has crisp steering. Ride quality feels precise and easy to control. Though it has many features, it never feels busy or stretched thin. All engine options make for a nimble ride, and the car is plenty fuel efficient.

Used 2012 Cadillac CTS Value

The Cadillac CTS is full of surprises - the second-generation CTS is able to compete with the likes of the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Audi A4, and other entry-level sports sedans. It may actually be the most unique and attractive of the lot - it's recognizable for its sharp features and graceful shape. It is equipped with features ahead of its class and a top-notch interior. With its dynamic style and comfortable ride, it's clear that Cadillac stuffed the 2012 CTS with a lot of value. The body styles and other configuration options ensure the lineup has many combinations to fit a specific driver's style.

Design & Performance

The second-generation Cadillac CTS has an attractive design that looks notably distinct on the road with unmistakably sharp features and details. Additionally, the 2012 CTS is fairly easy to customize toward your tastes. You have two engine options, a choice of manual or automatic transmission, three body styles, and all-wheel drive to swap in.

The second-generation Cadillac CTS comes in four trim levels:

  • The Cadillac CTS Base
  • The Cadillac CTS Luxury
  • The Cadillac CTS Performance
  • The Cadillac CTS Premium

Not a brand to waste time on titles, each trim level name mimics the features available to it.

Powertrain & Engine

The CTS has two engine options: the 3.0L V6 and the 3.6L V6. While the former is cheaper and overall brisk enough, the latter is much more powerful and much faster. Both feel sporty and quick, but the 3.6L V6 also has more horsepower, ensuring acceleration is no issue. Each can be paired with either manual transmission or paddle-shifted automatic transmissions. The six-speed manual is mostly offered on base-level sedans and coupes, though the automatic is likely to be a better fit for anyone interested in driving a sports car. All trim levels and body styles have access to all-wheel drive as a swap-in.

Body Style & Interior Comfort

The Cadillac CTS has a graceful shape with many distinctive features. Its details are memorable, with upswept headlamps, bladelike fenders, and lack of chrome. It may be held back by the lack of space in the car; the cabin is comfortable, just a little snug.

  • The leather upholstery could be improved, especially compared to the other cars in its class.
  • The entertainment system has a hard drive for music storage.
  • Bluetooth connectivity is standard for all trim levels.
  • Almost all of its technology and audio features have upgrades available.

The Cadillac CTS also has coupe and wagon models available.
