Improvement

2015 Cadillac Escalade William - , 12/13/2014

This new Escalade is a major improvement over the old model.... I also love how the interior has been farther distanced from the Yukon and Suburban. I gave it 4 stars overall, because the space (not the ext version) had about the same size as a Honda Pilot, which is too small for a vehicle this size. The third row is also very small for adults, mainly for kids, which again, the Pilot has the advantage. I suppose it isn't fair to compare an average car to this, but they do have a lot of similarities. What sets this car apart, besides the looks, brand name and options, is that you are getting what you pay for. However, I would not recommend this car to someone because I don't know how reliable it is, plus the price is steep for an American car. I purchase cars very often, used and new, and sell them at Carmax, which is a great company.

2015 Cadillac Escalade Overview

The Cadillac Escalade is a full-size, three-row crossover SUV that delivers a luxurious ride without sacrificing performance. The 2015 Cadillac Escalade promises prospective used-car buyers more refinement, more features and a more comfortable cabin than its predecessors.

Features & Specs

The 2015 Cadillac Escalade is a high-tech and luxurious vehicle with a feature-rich cabin. Notable feature packages include Cadillac's CUE touch infotainment system standard on all base models. The vehicle is equipped with a gas 6.2L V8 engine that produces 15 mpg in cities and 22 mpg on highways. It retains all of its previous features that drivers have come to expect, such as air conditioning, cruise control, nice-sounding audio system, and entertainment controls on the steering wheel. Additionally, it includes modern features such as Bluetooth connectivity and navigation built into its infotainment system.

Design & Performance

The Cadillac Escalade was redesigned for 2015 with a considerably sharper shape than its previous model. This version of the Escalade is now better designed to be more powerful, sophisticated and smoother. Design changes include a larger frame that casts an imposing on-road shadow. Due to the power-operated third-row seats that can fold into the floor, the cargo area, which was already lofty, has been raised by an additional 4 inches. Trim levels for the Cadillac Escalade include its original base model, the Luxury trim and the Premium Luxury trim level.

Powertrain & Engine

Across all trim levels, the 2015 Cadillac Escalade offers one engine: the 6.2L V8 engine capable of producing 420-horsepower. For context, this is the optional engine for full-size pickups. This means that towing power for this crossover SUV is more than enough for day-to-day hauling. As a result, acceleration is strong, but not overpowering. The 2015 Escalade is surprisingly quick for its size thanks to the capable engine that comes standard with a six-speed automatic transmission and operates in either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

Body Style & Interior Comfort

The already imposing Cadillac Escalade received more visual impact to make it appear more conspicuous on the road. Its exterior now looks bulkier and sturdier. On the inside, the Escalade boasts a more modern look. The second-row seating is available as individual chairs or as a bench seat, giving the Escalade the flexibility to seat either seven or eight occupants. One key addition in the 2015 model is that the Escalade now has power-operated third-row seats that can fold into the floor, similar to many of its competitors in the full-size crossover SUV segment. Though the third row of seats is a bit cramped for adults, children should sit comfortably.

They’re big. They’re bold. They’re kinda in your face. Tall pickup trucks and SUVs have the kind of ride height that gets you over, through, and around the kind of rough terrain which stops other vehicles in their tracks. If you live in a place with lots of snow, mud, or uneven ground, ride height (defined as the distance between the bottom of your truck’s tires and the lowest point on the underside) is probably more important to you than road-hugging and handling characteristics and strong fuel efficiency.
