Overall the vehicle has been what I hoped for. Its black with chrome and black leather with Bose sound system, Nav and rear view camera. I'm really enjoying the key fob starting feature so I don't have to go into the cold to start it. When I get in the LTZ is already warm inside. It has a smooth ride, a great feel and my wife trys driving it more than her own car. Its a 5 passenger SUV with the bed of a truck for hauling or towing. The 5.3L engine doesn't give it a lot of horse power but then it would use more gas..... My overall rating is a 5, but it does have some draw backs. 1) Its an SUV and therefore pay more for insurance then a truck. 2) The engine switches from V4 to V8 for better gas miles, but barely manages to give me 14.9 mpg city and 18.9 mpg hwy. 3) The dash lights during the day are almost invisable. 4) With gas at $3 it cost me $78 to fill the tank, so if gas prices are your concern don't get it, as you won't be happy.
As a young person who moves frequently and is heavily involved in several activities that require the use of a truck, I found my Avalanche to be THE best bang for my buck. Initially I was going for a standard pick-up truck and considered getting a bed cover, but once I saw the Avalanche, I knew it was the perfect vehicle for my needs. Me and my roommate just moved to a new apartment and didn't even have to use a rental truck (it wouldn't have been too expensive but every little cent counts now). The vehicle drives sooo much smoother than my last car and I am enjoying every aspect of it, from the spaciousness to the "secondary radio" in the back for those friends who don't enjoy "my type of music". I don't know what else to say except that I love love LOVE my Chevy Avalanche!!!
I bought my used Avalanche with 75,000 miles. 3,000 miles later I get my traction control warning light followed by my check engine light. Take it back to the dealer for service and it turns out, it is actually the battery and the fuel pump. Weird. Chevy has been notorious for bad fuel pumps because they are in the gas tank and can over heat if you run with less than half a tank, on a consistent basis. It needs a good fuel level to keep it cool. Other than that typical issue, I love that truck. Car max is the dealer I purchased it from and they have bent over backwards to solve the issue and keep me coming back.
