'08 Cobalt LT

My wife and I bought a '08 Chevy Cobalt (in May 2011) with 36,000 miles on it to replace her well worn out '98 Hyundai Elantra. I don't drive it often as I have another vehicle and a few motorcycles but I fit reasonably well in it considering I'm 6'8" tall and 240 lbs. Not as roomy as the Ford Focus but fine for the city driving it does. It gets along at a decent clip but is a little sluggish off of idle, not great acceleration. It does 70, even 80 mph, well on the freeways despite being a little 4 cylinder car. Brakes are a little mushy but understandable with drum rear brakes. A couple downsides: the mirrors don't give very good visibility, the cigarette lighter is directly in front of the cup holders which is a PITA when having something plugged into it, and the gas fill is on the right side of the car which is a little odd but everybody has their preferences. Here in L.A. we average only about 25 mpg even though the majority of the driving is on the freeway. That is much better than my truck so no complaints there! We took it on a little trip to San Diego and the mpg boosted to 28 but we have yet to see over 30 as the spec sheet suggests. Overall, good car for the value and like anything else will last with regular maintenance. 40,700 miles currently on the car (June 2011)

Great Value

It's been about a month that I've had my Cobalt LT and I can say I'm happy with it. It's a very attractive, great car for the price. It's comfortable for me as well as passangers to ride. I was impressed with the suspension and low road noise you experience while driving. There are two things that I would change or I guess don't like about it. The seat tends to move a tiny bit when you come to a stop or accelerate. The cupholders don't hold drinks very well. The size they chose to design them is odd. It doesn't have the best pick up but its not something that will bother you. I also just wish they would make them with black interiors as supposed to light grey. I recommend this vehicle to anyone wanting to buy a car on a budget.
