Customer Review Summary for 2007 Chevrolet Corvette
Nice garage ornament and easy on fuel

I was considering a new Buick LaCrosse but decided I wasn't old enough for a Buick yet. So just before I ordered a new Camaro 2SS, I checked out the used market and found late model, low mileage Corvettes real easy to buy. I searched for a manual coupe with minimum 3LT trim and skipped over the Z06 and ZR-1 models. What I found is more of a luxury performance touring than a supercar and with only 16k miles, priced nearly 25% less than the new cars I was shopping. The LS2 aluminum V8 has all the power I need and offers catapult acceleration in this 'Vette that wasn't available in the LS3 (26 more hp) Camaro (SS) that I drove.
The Corvette is not a Lambo or a Ferrari so I won't try to compare it to them. But for the price, its close enough for me. I have no complaints about the amount of plastic in the interior. There really isn't that much and it is well appointed, far superior to the appointments in the LaCrosse and Camaro. The car is smooth. Aside from some road noise expected from a car of this nature, its quiet and at 6'2" and 200lbs, it fits me like a glove. Getting in and out is a bit more difficult than a sedan, but well worth the effort.
This Corvette handles very well and performs like a thoroughbred. But the most remarkable aspect is the fuel consumption. Rated right up there with many V6 cars, as long as I don't have my foot in it all the time and use the gears for maximum efficiency, it gets better mpg in the city than my pick-up does on the highway. Its real good at merging and sips gas like an econobox on the open road.
Traction control should be default off, optionally on rather than optionally off. I have to remember to switch it off when ever I start up. Its hard on the rear brakes and if you really need it on dry pavement, you don't know how to drive a car like this. The best way to determine if your prospective Corvette has been abused is to check out the rear brakes.
Stowage is remarkable as there is room for a cartful of groceries under the hatchback, even with the roof in its storage rack. Its just a bit inconvenient to load/unload that way. But I kept the pick-up and have other vehicles for chasing groceries.
For a performance two seater, there's a lot to appreciate in the Corvette and it doesn't take up near as much space in the garage as my pick-up.
