We had a 2007 before this one. We love this vehicle, it is almost between and SUV and a wagon. Plenty room and great on gas.
I fell in love with the **Cruiser when they came out and I was determined to get one. I made a promise to myself that before 07 went out I was going to be in my Cruiser! I was driving down the road when I saw the cutiest car I'd ever seen it was an HHR. I fell in love! I speed up so that I could get a closer look at it and from that day forward I was hooked. I purchased my 07 HHR last month. Everytime I look at it I can't believe it's mine. It drives like a dream (smooth & easy), gas miliege is unbelievable. The only draw back for me the width of the car, I have three kids 1 in car seat that requires a little more space, but they don't mind the tight fit. If you want elegant looking, spacious, practical, head turning vehicle get the HHR. It is in a class by itself.
Before buying a car I always rent it. It has a retro look to it like a 50's suburban wagon. This 4 banger gets onto a freeway with authority, takes hills nicely and is good on gas averaging 22 mpg city and about 32 mpg road. It is roomy inside with a storage area in back when you drop the rear seats of a little shy of 6' to the rear lift door from the front seats. It handles well and I like the feature in the steering wheel that tells you mpg , fuel range oil and coolant reading , tire pressure in all 4 tires. I also like the storage compartment on the top of the dash for CDs or the GPS. the instrument panel and Radio CD are well placed. The only deficit is the rear window view on the passenger side , which is corrected by removing the rear headrest. I like the On Star and Sirius XM radio features. Also like the Chrome package on the wheels and interior and the champagne color of the car.
