What a great surprise!! The HHR was not my first choice when I started looking at buying a car. But, I had a friend that had purchased one and she suggested that I might at least take one for a spin...what did I have to lose? Wow...was she right. The interior is a very pleasant surprise. My husband and I are not small people and we have plenty of room in the HHR. Not only that, but there is actually room in the back seat to sit 2 normal or 3 small people comfortably, quite a change from our last vehicle. For those of us that like to sit a little higher, this car fits the bill. Some of the interior features take a little getting used to: this model has the beverage holders in a kind of akward spot and the controls for the windows are on the center console, not on the door. The handling is a little on the sloppy side but certainly nothing that would be of concern. I took it on road trip recently, set the cruise control and enjoyed a great ride as well as 30 mph! It is a little light in the snow but with the addition of some weight in the back end, it manages just fine. All in all, I am very happy with my purchse and would recommend the Chevy HHR to anyone looking for a comfortable ride, good fuel economy and some fun in a new car!!
I was initially looking for a PT Cruiser. But the gas mileage was so awful!! Then I found out about the HHR. It's similar to a cruiser but SO MUCH BETTER! It's MUCH more comfortable. I have the leather seats that heat up and I love them. I would've liked a little more cushioning in the seats because I commute a long distance but overall it's wonderful. I was able to get it in my favorite color - Purple! It's a beautiful car and I feel so safe in it. The gas mileage is great - about 31 hywy (that's going a bit over the speed limit sometimes too!) Drawbacks: cup holders are in an odd spot. So are the front window controls. The arm rests need to be longer. The drawbacks are so minor in comparison to all the great things about this car!
I purchased this car in February of 2008 and have put almost 30K miles on it since (it is now November 2008). There have been no major issues with the exception of the Air Conditioning drain tube clogging up. This was easily fixed by the dealer and I was on my way in no time. The gas mileage on this car is awesome! I am in sales, so there is a lot of stop and go driving and leaving my car running for long periods of time outside of my customers. With all of that, I am still getting approx 27 miles per gallon! When I am driving on the highway only, the mileage gets up to 35 or more miles per gallon! Awesome! This car looks great outside and feels great inside. I am a big man (over 6' tall and approx 240lbs) and I am as comfortable in this car as I would be in an SUV, I love it. Who needs a bigger crossover or SUV when this car is just as roomy? This car looks great, performs great, maintenance is very low, and best of all...it won't break the bank.
