I love my new car! It has great gas mileage, room for 4 adults, plus great storage options in the back. I'm so glad I got the Chevy HHR!
I rented an HHR SS for Labor Day weekend. I initially thought the HHR was UGLY. But then I had my car in the repair shop, and needed a rental for work for two days. I usually get a subcompact/compact but there was nothing left on the lot.... They gave me this for the same price as a subcompact. I was very reluctant and tried to wait on a corolla that was coming thru inspection in 40 minutes. But it was 8pm Saturday night and they told me it wouldn't be ready to rent until Monday. So I took the HHR SS. OH..MY..GOD I got into this thing and clicked the ignition switch. It was instant love. The display was a light festival for me. I loved the steering wheel with the SS in the middle of it. The sunroof was totally the bomb!! I put that bad boy in D, and drove away. Hit I-55 to drive back to the northside. Oh that thing blew me away. The sound system made the Partridge Family sound like a rock concert!!! I was floored!! I was crazy over the mag wheels!! I drove it Sunday/Monday.Everyone at work thought I bought it. I had to take it back Monday night and as I pulled in to the lot and got out, it took me a while to compose myself. My eyes filled with tears because a part of me just wanted to go in the office and ask how much it was. I can't really afford a car payment nor a high insurance payment, but I wanted this thing so bad, I was willing to use my paid off car and $1000 as a trade in. Since then, I test drive the LS, the LT, and again the SS. The LS lacks fun but if you want an HHR that bad, the LS will have to do. The LT is the next step up, offering more amenities so you feel like you have "crossed over" from the bare bones but you haven't exactly arrived at "nirvana" yet. The SS, IS NIRVANA. I'll tell anyone: if you can afford the HHR period, GET ONE. Lord knows I wish I could have one right now.
This vehicle is great. It is comfortable inside and has lots of space for carrying luggage or cargo. The seats are comfortable and do not uncomfortably restrain your movement. The outside appearance of the car is muscular but not overly so. The driver information console even tells you when to change your oil as well as MPG and capacity on a continuing updated basis. There are many options to chose from on your HHR, I recommend the sunroof to add additional roominess feel and the seat warmers for a nice toasty seat on cold days. The car has a lot of thrust for such a small engine, and it gets great mileage. It won't throw you back against your seat on start out but it will handle nimbly. The ride is nicely quiet inside even when cruising at highway speeds. I would heartily recommend this car to anyone, it has a unique look and handles great while giving you room.
