Overall, the 2007 malibu was a fair deal for the price paid. It was a low mileage vehicle, less than 16,000 original miles. Had some faulty superficial pieces as with most GM vehicles. Had to put a piece of locktite on the winshield wiper cowl to keep it from vibrating as air passed under it into the interior ventilation system of the car. Handles ok, but great gas mileage in the city even. I'm getting between 25 and 27 mpg on the way to work. The windshield washer pump has already broken, but again, no surprise with a GM vehicle. Its a cheap fix, but still annoying. In spite of the small stuff, I felt like I got a good amount of car for the money I spent and it was way cheaper than a Corolla.
We have a MAXX hatchback and love it. It is cheap on gas and we have not had any trouble. Very smart car, really flexible for loading stuff in and we have transported anything from sports equipment to our Christmas tree inside the car with no problems. Pretty spacious with lots of leg room also in the back. The heated front seats are awesome in winter.
I bought an 2007 Chevy Malibu and am fairly happy with it. It doesn't accelerate or stop very quickly and if you are in a situation where you have to stomp on your breaks it tends to fishtail slightly. It does, however, have some really nice features I didn't realize it had such as the gauges on the radio that can tell you your average speed, miles per gallon, how many miles you have left before needing gas, and when you need an oil change. The air conditioner is rather impressive and well appreciated. The interior is roomy and firm and I like the faux wood details but the fabric seems to pick up smudges really easily. All in all, it's a decent car and will do until I can afford something with a little more kick.
