We traded a '97 Explorer for the '07 Suburban. We have only had it for 2 months but after a family trip and a foot and a half of snow we are very pleased. Three members of our family drive Tahoes/Suburbans so we were not unfamiliar. All three love their vehicles. We waffled between the Expedition EL and the Suburban because we loved our Explorer and never had a problem with it. After extensive research/test drives we are very happy thus far with our choice - the space on a trip is fantastic and it is a much more comfortable ride than the Explorer. Gas mileage on the interstate has averaged 20-22 and around our rural home about 16 (which is better than we had expected). Our only wish is that the third row folded into the floor like the Expedition and that we could get a diesel engine - I'm sure that will come.
Being a senior, I have purchased a lot of vehicles in my life time and I have never been more pleased. This Suburban looks and drives like a new one. My family and friends all thought it was brand new when they first saw it. It's just great! Thanks !!
This is our third Suburban and they keep getting better. This is one of the greatest family road cars ever built. The space, comfort and the ability to let the miles slide away make the overall experience very pleasant for our family trips. Our boys are older now and the second row of captains chairs prevents a lot of the normal irritations with kids in a close space. As you would expect from a car of this size and length fuel economy in town is an issue but we were every pleasantly surprised by the very "nimble" turning radius for this SUV. For the family road trip of two to three hours the comfort is well worth the trade offs for our family. If I could do one thing to improve the vehicle I would wish for a European (BMW) diesel engine to extend the fuel economy and still maintain the highway and towing performance. Oh well can't have everything.
