Reviews for 2012 Chevrolet Suburban 1500
Carmax found us an excellent vehicle
The 2012 Suburban is much roomier than the 2001 Tahoe we replaced. The difference is very noticeable. To get to the third row seating is not difficult for most people, but I wouldn't try and put my 84 year old grandmother back there. My 65 year old parents have no problem. We have a 2 year old son who sits in a car seat and we have to reach just a bit to get him into his seat. The active fuel management works great, as evidenced by the fuel mileage. It is sometimes feels like it is balking just a bit when going from 4 to 8 cylinders, but my wife says she doesn't notice this at all. Also, just another comparison to the Tahoe, it feels stiffer in the rear suspension, but maybe I just need to get used to the longer chassis.
Poor interior design
This is my 7th Suburban since 1976. When GM changed the interior layout, they destroyed being able to use this as a cargo carrier. There is no longer a 4'x8' FLAT floor with the seats down. Plus the middle seats fold and block being able to reach through from the driver's seat to the rear.
I love this beast of a car!
I have four kids and in our old minivan we were always squished especially on a road trip. Now we have tons of room for them their stuff and all the luggage that we need. Plus when I go grocery shopping I can have all the kids with me and still fit groceries in the back of the car. I love all the special features too. The touch screen is awesome. We use the DVD player all the time. And the back up camera is amazing.
