Reviews for 2011 Chevrolet Traverse
Very good but not great
The engine seems very strong and performs well. Acceleration is smooth and responsive. Transmission shifts quickly & quietly. The ride is comfortable without being mushy. (I owned a 1999 Dodge Durango so I am used to a more truck-like suspension anyway). The handeling is nimble, more responsive than the Durango. The cargo space is very sufficient for my needs. The instrument panel has taken me some time to get used to. Too many symbols & icons for my liking. I will need to spend more time with the owners manual than I had expected. The front passenger's seat controls are set too far back to be easily reached. I am not very happy with the fuel economy. So far, I am averaging about 14 mph in the city (advertised as 17mph) and I have not yet taken a long enough trip to check hwy mileage. All in all, because of it's larger size, I'm glad I chose the Traverse over the Equinox.
2011 Jewel Red Traverse
We researched for over a year and scouted the vehicles akin to Traverse by all manufacturers and made the decision to see the Traverse. The 6 cylinder with the 3.6 liter engine gives us what we need in power, plus the extended length with the 3rd row seating gives us the seating needed for passengers. It also allows us the cargo space needed to carry our two mobility scooters plus luggage when needed. The extra space also allows us to still have second row seating even when carrying the scooters with no luggage. We took this car on a 1000+ mile trip two days after trading for it. It did a beautiful job on the highway as well as in towns. As others have mentioned, it is necessary to be careful while driving because there are blind spots. Because we will not need the 2nd row seating at all times, we may keep the passenger side seat back folded down to allow better blind spot site on that side. We did find that the back window of the vehicle does not provide much view of the traffic behind us. We purchased a pre-owned vehicle with almost 22,000 miles on it. We didn't realize the headrests had been turned around backwards before we left on the long trip. We are not sure why that was done, but will turn them around the correct direction to see if that is more comfortable. We did not experience the sluggish power surge needed to pass vehicles on the road as some reviewers have mentioned. We were prepared for this car to be heavier and to move less quickly in such situations than the smaller vehicles we have owned previously. We currenly believe we have made a good trade, one that fits our needs.
Good buy, love it!!
I went from a Camry to the Traverse once we found out we'd be having a third child. Had to get one model year older in order to afford the extras, because the standard edition really doesn't have great features and had a "cheap" looking interior. However, we got the LT AWD edition with leather interior. The seats are super comfy with seat heaters when it's cold, or my pregnant back starts to ache. The bluetooth is convenient and the back up camera is awesome. It also has the auto open/close back door which is great for full hands and groceries. My friend warned of the limited cargo space, but I find it had plenty of room for our neeeds. I would recommend this car to the growing family. My kids love it and so does my husband (which is hard to do).
