This is the most uncomfortable mini van I have ever owned. There is way too much plastic. The arm rests for both the right and left arm are terrible. The air conditioning is miserable. It never cools adequately when the sun is shining. The mechanics of the car are good....no complaints there. It seems as though the American car manufacturers prices keep going up, but the cars do not reflect the prices. This is a boring car.
We had previously rented Chevy Uplanders' for a couple of vacations in the last couple of years. I really liked that it was spacious and all 6 family members had plenty of room. I was actually in search of a Dodge Caravan but after checking 2 of them out I decided they just weren't what I was looking for. I looked at the Uplander just a couple of vans down. It was more spacious, had a nicer interior and had an entertainment package as well as having the quad seating which is what I wanted. It was only a couple thousand more but it was what I wanted. I've had it about 6 weeks now and am happy with our purchase. I'm glad we had rented it before because I knew it would be a better choice for us.
I recently rented an UPLANDER and drove my family from Atlanta, GA to Las Vegas, NV and back to Atlanta. Approx. a 4500 mile trip. My wife was 6 months pregnant at the time and found that there was plenty of room to "stretch out". Our 5 year old enjoyed the DVD system and learned very quickly how to operate the door close and open switch. This is the first vehicle that he can enter, buckle himself in his booster seat and close the door. SIMPLY awesome. We traveled I-40 and found that the Uplander had plenty of acceleration power with the 240 HP V-6 to traverse the western interstates. We averaged approx. 23 mpg on the interstate at 75 to 78 averaged mph. My wife loved it so much that we went and bought one the week after we returned. I would definitely recommend this SUVan to any young family who needs room and amenities.
