About the Dodge Caliber

Vehicle Summary

A compact hatchback like the Dodge Caliber can be a great choice if you're looking for a practical and versatile car with lots of personality. Specifically, the five-door Dodge Caliber hatchback offers seating for five passengers and was produced from 2007 through 2012 as a replacement for the Dodge Neon and Chrysler PT Cruiser models.

Inside its cabin, the Caliber offers a spacious 18.4 cubic feet of storage space behind its rear row on the 2012 model—and that can be extended to a full 47.4 feet by simply folding down the rear seats. Meanwhile, its compact size makes it fun to drive and easy to maneuver into tight parking spots and around crowded city streets. If you're shopping for a compact hatchback, be sure to check out a used Dodge Caliber for yourself.

It’s Decent at Best

It’s great on gas and all but not even a full 4 months after driving it off the lot, the compressor goes out and shortly after that, the transmission goes out. Thankfully I was under the warranty which I paid the deductible, but the rental wasn’t properly coded in the system. I return the car only to find out I was billed for 4 days. I had to pay the money and fax an invoice to get reimbursed. We’ll see how long it takes for that!!

  • Fuel Economy: It fills up on 20-25 dollars

  • Reliability: It has not been reliable and it’s only been 4 months.
  • Value: I feel that it’s overpriced a bit

- Chris R., 2010 Dodge Caliber

Functional but no bells or whistles

The car is decent sized if you are single and have no kids. However, it is not a grocery-getter, as it has very little room in the hatchback. It is a very noisy car, like they forgot to insulate it from road noise. The tires are cheap. It didn't come with daytime running lights or an alarm. The fuel tank is very small, and while It gets decent gas mileage, you have to refill the tank more often than I would like. It is simply functional to get you from point A to point N. Beyond daily driving, I don't recommend this car. I'm just disappointed. I won't buy another one.

  • Fuel Economy:

  • Cabin Noise: It is loud.
  • Ride and Handling: Seems too heavy. Not very stable.
  • Interior Space: Not enough cargo space or leg room in the back seat.
