The pros were that it was great on gas mileage and it never broke down.
The cons are that it was just was not a joy to drive, and it looked like a mini van and I'm 24.
don't regret it
2007 Dodge Caliberairnos - Atlanta01/19/2008
I purchased a 2007 SE (base+2.0/CVT) brand new and don't regret it. It's not a fast, high-performance car like Consumer Reports wants to see but if you're looking for a good solid car you've found it. I run about 26mpg normally and have popped 30mpg on road trips. Acceleration on the CVT takes a little getting used to but once you get the hang of it, it's like any other economy car (this is the only reason it got 4 instead of 5 stars). Not peppy but it gets the job done -- and in Atlanta with its notorious traffic. Interior is quite comfortable (and I have back trouble!) and the "base" a/c and stereo will put you out of the car. One thing I didn't see mentioned in other reviews is that the car is heavier than expected which makes the ride much more solid than you expect. It also sits higher than it appears which counterbalances the complaints about visibility. And the icing on the cake is that the side curtain airbags make the car VERY insurable. Absolutely yes I'd recommend it.
This model will have many problems in the future. The transmission which is cvt, will be the first to break down on you along with many other parts. I advise you to NOT get the caliber. It is a good car but will cost you to keep it going.
