My granny actually bought this car in 2012, kept it parked then passed it down to me! I love this car honestly!!! It's girly for me, I have no children so it's quite roomy, AC&Heat is great, and saves gas!!! $25 or $30 once a week maybe two. Only problem is it was passed down with low profile tires, and a messed up alignment! Things that my grandparents did, other than that great car!

My sister owns a 2009 dodge caliber. I LOVE THE CAR however, the comfort level in the back seat on long trips is worth about 3.5 stars.. but it's a great car with great gas mileage & very stylish apperance. she doesn't even have to add a after market sound system.. the stock system hits just as hard.
When I first saw this car on the road a few years back, I fell in love with it. When I was in a position to purchase it this year, I read the reviews, which were decidedly mixed, but decided to go ahead and buy it.
So far, I love this car. It drives great, looks great, and has plenty of interior space.
Is it underpowered? Absolutely, but so what!? If I wanted to go 100 miles an hour and zoom up mountains I would have bought a performance oriented car. If someone complains this car is underpowered, they might one of those drivers who tries to pull out into traffic to race their way in front of YOU, instead of waiting until you passed, where there was a huge gap in traffic.
Is it noisy? Well duh. It's not a Mercedes or a BMW. Of course you hear some road noise at higher speeds, but nothing as horrendous as some would have you believe. Does the engine scream when passing or going uphill. Yes, but again, duh, it's a four cylinder, what would you expect?
Trust me... anyone who complains this car is noisy is WAY too particular. As I tell a certain person I know who seems to think a car should be a sound proof vacuum chamber (even a car under $20k), "that's what the radio is for".
This car does drive a bit like a truck, but I LOVE that. You sit higher than a sedan, but not quite as high as an SUV, and I find that extra height very desirable. So that's a personal choice, a detraction to some a benefit to others.
I have a fully loaded SXT, and the features are great: the enhanced display and trip computers, the steering wheel stereo controls, drop down liftgate speakers, sunrooof, cruise, etc... I would recommend the loaded model.
As far as the above issues are concerned, you can take this review to the bank.
Now, it does seem some have experienced some legitimate mechanical issues that are not subjective, but I have not experienced the mechanical problems that some have so I can't speak to that. However, I did purchase the 4 year bumper to bumper warranty, which was enough piece of mind for me, and personally, I'm proud to be driving around in an American made vehicle.
Oh and one last thing... I'm getting 34+ MPG on the highway!
