This is a great car! I love mostly everything about it. The gas mileage is actually not to bad. I get 300 miles per tank. Which is great since I travel a lot back and fourth to work.
We bought this car to replace a large SUV. With our oldest daughter in college now, we didn't need to haul five people around, just 4. We still wanted a car that would haul a lot of stuff if needed. This is a great hatchback. We can't imagine why anyone would want a trunk when you can have a hatchback. Easy in. Easy out. Seats fold flat. This car is a great balance of space, mileage and performance. We took the car to Florida this spring break (from Indiana) and we got 31 MPG on highway and 25 MPG around town. The car is solid and feels very safe. We saw reviews commenting on the lack of power. We just have not found that to be a problem. We never feel like we don't have enough power to enter traffic, pass at highway speeds, etc. No, we can't burn out at a stoplight, or beat a performance vehicle off the line, but then again, we don't care to do that. Final thought - comfort. We drove straight through from Tampa to Indy - 21 hours door to door with stops - and my back/behind/legs NEVER got tired or achy the whole way. VERY comfortable seats. So...we love our Caliber. (Okay, one more final thought) we liked the interior of the 2010 and newer over the interior of the 2009. Compare both. Maybe you'll like both, but we liked the 2010 much more. Better style and quality appearance.
My Caliber is a smooth running, excellent on gas, and is one sharp looking car. I have never been so pleased with a car in my entire life. The Caliber has many great qualities, and I am sure glad I decided to purchase it.
