In short I love my SRT8 Challenger. Very predictable, handles great, and has good get up and go that'll put a smile on your face. The car is a performance based machine, but is refined and comfortable enough to travel in. Having traveled in an 07 Corvette that wears you down after 3-4hours of seat time, I've found this to be very comfortable for extended tours. (Not knocking the Vette, it's an awesome car that's just not good for Interstate travel in my opinion) The Challenger is on the heavy side but still feels nimble when you throw it around. That's the downside of all of the insulation/sound deadening and creature comfort materials in general, but well worth it in my opinion. I originally was going to buy a new RT, until I found the SRT. Surprisingly the leather seats are more comfortable than the RT by far in my opinion. Sound system is good and the Nav hasn't let me down yet. Getting into the back seat is typical for a two door car, however don't waste your time going through the drivers side as the seat doesn't have a quick release like the passenger side. You'll spend 10 mins dealing with the electric seat.... Never drove the RT to compare it to the SRT, but the SRT is supposed to have a better suspension. All I can really say is I've been impressed with it so far. Back to the performance side, the brakes are great and have done a good job of hauling it down to avoid Bambi and family on the back roads. The six speed does take some getting used to. If you aren't pushing it then it'll want to go from first to fourth which can be annoying. Otherwise no complaints. I'd complain about the clutch but it's my first hydraulic clutch vehicle and it just doesn't have the "feel" that my old vehicles have with the direct linkages. Works good, but different and takes some getting used to. The power is great but you'll be 10-15mph over the limit and not even notice it- until it's too late and the flashing lights are in your rear view mirrors. HID lights are great at night and provide plenty of light. Not sure how oncoming traffic feels but I'm not getting flashed a lot so must be ok... To the complaints- I don't care for the range of the tilt/telescopic wheel. It doesn't have enough travel to get it exactly where I want it, but you do get used to it and it's not bad, just not ideal. Fuel economy has been in the mid teens, but I've been doing everything wrong to get good economy. Drive it nice and cruise in 6th and it'll crank out good mileage. It does take premium fuel, but if you are worried about that or the economy as a factor then you probably shouldn't be looking at a performance vehicle.... I really don't like the cruise set up, or the steering wheel in general. I find my 08 Laramie Pickup with nav and the steering wheel controls to be a lot better for me. Again, to each his own. Another item is the exhaust will drone in the back seat. It's really noticeable when the car is in 6th gear and at lower RPM's going up a hill or lugging a little bit. In conclusion I've been extremely happy with my purchase and would not hesitate to buy the same car again. It isn't the fastest, but it is a great looking car that to me is a great compromise between an all out performance car and daily driver. Drive one and find out yourself. If nothing else you'll get lots of thumbs up from the many people who'll be checking it out!
