I love this car it can do everything that you would need a car to ,such as:towing ,having people in for a family vacation and off roading long story short.....I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!
I have the 2013 Durango R/T trim, and love it. I have owned it less than a month, so can't speak on the durability. It is a big vehicle, but it really doesn't feel that you are driving a large SUV, drives like a car. The V8 has plenty of power, and has great acceleration. Dodge did a great job with the interior, feels and looks like your driving a luxury vehicle from Germany, they didn't cheap out on anything.
Comparing it to the Tahoe. Purchased used and was approximately $7000 less in price with 10000 less miles at time of purchase. Feels and is a bit smaller than the Tahoe and with the R/T package (Hemi) with AWD can tow up to 7200#. Fit and finish is comparable to Tahoe. Intermittent AWD is the biggest disappointment in the snows of the Pacific NW. Not a city driver with poor gas mileage. On the interstate getting between 21-23 MPG varies with wind direction and which set of tires I have on the car. These MPG numbers are when going approximately 0-5 MPG over the posted speed limit. The 8 speed transmission shifts like a dream but not a fan of the paddle shifters (May still not know how to keep them disengaged all the time.)
The Dodge Durango is a heavy, spacious SUV with abundant features and well-constructed seats. It has a rough personality, but is styled aerodynamically. Its powerful V8-engine option gives it the extra kick it needs. For larger families who plan to spend a lot of time on city roads and highways, the Durango is one of the best options to consider.
Around for over a decade, the Dodge Durango has seen very few changes. Though the style has been modernized with each generation, the Durango remains one of the largest and heaviest vehicles in its class.
Overall, the Durango stands as one of the most spacious, comfortable SUVs on the market with its three rows of seats and well-cushioned upholstery. Dodge built the truck with sound-deadening to enhance the ride too. However, there's quite a dichotomy in driving experiences when it comes to raw power and fuel efficiency. The biggest differences in the lineup are connected to the powertrains. When equipped with the V8 engine, this gargantuan can fly. When equipped with the standard V6, the Durango can feel a bit sluggish to drive.
The Durango's size brings a lot of important factors to the table, including spacious passenger seats and plenty of cargo space. But its largeness and immense weight require a lot of power and can take a toll on fuel efficiency. This can also make the V6-engine option feel strained. As a result, a V8 engine, if swapped in, will help out the experience of driving the vehicle immensely.
Still, there's a lot to like in Dodge's largest car. There are certainly plenty of newer models in the lineup that shine as far as features go, but, for the most part, the car has remained relatively the same over the years. For used car buyers, the Durango's widespread popularity will make it easy to find the right configuration and powertrain on the lot.
The third-generation Dodge Durango hasn't received many changes or updates, but it does have a few trims and feature packages to choose from. The three-door SUV is available in four trim levels:
Some of the higher trims' standard features are also optional for lower trims.
The Durango has a range of V6 and V8 engines to choose from. With the exception of the Dodge Durango R/T, each third-generation Dodge Durango comes standard with a 3.6L V6 engine. The R/T is built with the 5.7L V8 engine standard and is optional on the Citadel. Dodge built models with the option for either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, depending on driver preference. The towing capacity for the V8 is a maximum of 7,400 lbs. Fuel efficiency for the vehicle is 14 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway.
The Dodge Durango is one of the largest vehicles on the market. This SUV has many feature packages and trim levels, so there are plenty of combinations to choose from. Families in particular who plan to spend a lot of time on the road will enjoy how spacious this car is.
