Sweet Ride! 2013 Dodge Durango Crew
SUV's have changed over the years. I bought my first back in 2002 -- Ford Explorer. It had everything: space, comfortable drive, decent gas mileage, and great look. I loved that truck. Our family has since moved into the "crossover" SUV space, but I wasn't happy with the lack of space and room. They either felt like or drove like a truck, or were no bigger than a sedan space wise. As my 10 year old car continued to remind me to look for a new car, I decided it was time to begin the search. Below are the criteria I was searching for: *updated technology: bluetooth connectivity for phone and streaming music, USB or power adapters built in, touchscreen stereo *Decent gas mileage. Look, if I wanted great gas mileage, I would stick with a sedan so I know SUV's aren't great, but the fuel technology sure has changed in 10 years. *Tough look. Something that didn't remind me of a mini-van--something with some muscle. *Comfortable ride. Suspension technology has also improved to the point to where I shouldn't be bounced around on the road. After lots and lots of research, I landed on the Durango. I must say, this car has exceeded my expectations. First, it rides as smooth as my wife's Mercedes SUV, and sits much higher on the road. It's quiet, has plenty of space all around (I have 2 girls and they love the separate captains chairs), and has more options than I need: front and rear seat warmers, power plug for 2nd row (so the kiddies can charge their devices), a/c control for second row, 2nd row seat warmers (not that we use them much in Florida, but nice to have), great sound system, and of course, fully integrated bluetooth! Push button start, back-up camera, remote start, power lift gate -- all standard stuff on the Crew. The only thing I wasn't looking for, but ended up getting was navigation. It's not the best, but is a great option to add to the already loaded standard features. Gas mileage isn't bad. It has built in technology that automatically switches into economy mode based upon your driving style. I'm averaging around 21 MPG (mostly city, sprinkled in with some highway). And muscle? Just check out the front end. I love the way Dodge integrated chrome and a low profile for the look of the front end--just the right amount of muscle. I agree, the rear needs some testosterone, but the front makes up for it IMO. I've had the car now for 2 months, and no regrets or gripes. The family loves it (even my wife has been asking more to drive it), I love it -- win-win all around!
I love the space, the feel, and the style......not to mention the Dodge name!!!
