my first truck in 14 1/2 years! my other was a 1997 ram 1500- the price was super fair, and allowed me to spend extra money on some cool upgrades. i had it lowered- 4in rear and 2 in front- i bought aftermarket rubber liners- for bed and tailgate and area behind cab- i also had protective molding installed along doors and top of wheelwalls-to protect against door dings! and to finish it off, a cool pinstriping job by one of the best in the business! i will have this truck for 10plus years, so i do my own oil changes, hand wax myself also. plenty of power- i drive low and slow , so i get max mpg-very pleased with my truck! with 11,000 miles, iam gonna take care of this baby!
i was very pleased with my experience at carmax. the sales representative did a good job helping me find a truck that fit what i was looking for. found a truck for the price and it had things i wanted in the vehicle as well. carmax has a very good inventory of vehicles. plan on visiting them for my kids vehicles in the future
We have made trips to new jersey along with taking it done to Orlando fla and loved the saving of fuel with truck as big as it is. everywhere we go people think the truck is new because it looks so good. could not have found a better truck.
The Dodge Ram was first released in 1981 but has seen a great deal of changes and upgrades over the decades. Now in its fourth generation, the 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 meets buyers' demands for a rugged, durable, and powerful truck with a sophisticated design and smooth ride.
The 2010 Dodge Ram was only the second release in the fourth generation of Dodge Rams, debuting at the North American International Auto Show in 2009. This was also the first year that the Ram took on its own brand name that was legally separated from Dodge, though it is still commonly marketed under Dodge. This was also only the second year that the Ram 1500 was available with a four-door cab option due to high demand. The Dodge Ram 1500 is manufactured in Warren, Michigan, and is available in multiple size options, including:
The three trim levels offered include the base ST, midlevel SLT, and upgraded Laramie.
The 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 features an independent coil-spring rear suspension instead of the traditional leaf spring and live axle rear suspension found in models prior to 2009. When it comes to the driving experience, this new setup provides a much smoother and more enjoyable ride - especially when compared to similar full-size pickups on the market. It also boasts greater maneuverability, though it does have a slightly smaller towing capacity and payload as a result. One of the only complaints drivers have had in regard to the ride itself is the perceived lack of steering power.
Compared to other vehicles in its class, including the Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado, the Dodge Ram 1500 really holds its own in terms of value. It is competitive in terms of fuel economy, yet offers a higher maximum towing capacity than most. Its unique suspension, however, does result in a lower maximum payload, which may be a deal-breaker for some. Most 2010 Dodge Ram 1500s on the market today are selling for anywhere from $10,000 to around $20,000, so they have held their value just about as well as you can expect from a pickup truck.
Compared to other full-size pickups, drivers tend to appreciate the integrated trailer brake controller as well as the oversized mirrors that come standard on the 2010 Dodge Ram; these make hauling a much safer, easier, and more enjoyable experience. The Ram truly has a class-leading design that features:
Power lovers will also appreciate the optional Hemi engine available in this model year.
The 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 features a standard 3.7-liter V6 engine with 210 horsepower and 235 lb-ft of torque. This standard engine is available in both rear-wheel drive and part-time four-wheel drive.
In addition to the standard engine, upgraded trims enjoy upgraded engine power. Specifically, the four-wheel drive trims include a Magnum 4.7L V8 engine that kicks up 310 horsepower and significantly more torque. Finally, the 5.7L Hemi V8 is the most powerful option offered in the 2010 Dodge Ram 1500; this engine can boost the vehicle from zero to 60 mph in less than eight seconds. This upgraded engine also features variable valve timing, which allows it to run on four cylinders on occasion, and thus helps with fuel economy.
Still, one of the most common complaints about this vehicle is its less-than-impressive fuel economy compared to similar pickups of its time, with an average of just 20 mpg highway for its most fuel-efficient model.
Drivers appreciate the aggressive yet sleek body style of the Dodge Ram 1500, though there are a few notable differences among trim levels. For example, the base ST trim level features basic 17-inch wheels, whereas the mid- and upper-level trims upgrade to larger aluminum and chrome options.
In terms of the Dodge Ram 1500's interior, the design itself is plush and inviting, offering greater space and comfort than its Ford and Chevy counterparts. Some interior features include:
Depending on your seating and storage needs, this truck is available in both regular cab, quad cab, and mega cab. If you've got more than one or two passengers on a regular basis, the additional foot room with the mega cab may be more than worth the extra cost and small bed space sacrifice.
