I upgraded from a 2007 Tundra 5.7, to this RAM 2500 with the 6.7 Cummins diesel. I have a travel trailer RV that I take out very often, and I wanted more power for safety especially accelerating on the highway, more stability, and more comfort options so my wife would enjoy the drives better. The Laramie package had everything we needed, and the next package up was the Bighorn which was about $10K more but I didn't feel at all like you got $10K worth of upgrades. One thing that surprises me about this truck is how good on gas it is when not towing, for it's weight and engine size. I am seeing MPG in the 30's when not towing, 15 when towing. I have never owned a Dodge(RAM) product before but I am happy with it.
One of the best 3/4 ton truck out there. Don't buy a Duramax, buy a Dodge with a Cummins if you want a truck that will last you a long time and if you want a truck for towing. Still one of the few with a solid front axle, and one of the best diesel engines available. The only complaint I would actually have with this truck, is the cracks in the dashboard, however that's something Dodge should have addressed since a lot of people get cracks in the dashboard on these truck, and they're not all small little cracks either. Other then that little problem, this engine has never failed me, it's gone through deep mud to pull other trucks out, it's towed many trailers, and never complained about it. The diesel mileage is great too, I drive it to work everyday, and I average 18mpg, I do have a programer (Edge Juice w/Attitude) and it really makes this engine come alive, I'd recommend getting one of those too. Buy one of these trucks, and you won't regret it, at least Dodge chose to use a Cummins engine, a brand that's been around for a long while, unlike Duramax.
Our 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 purchased September 2012 has become our favorite vehicle to drive. This truck looks and feels like it is brand new. It is a pleasure to drive, with a very quiet ride (especially for a diesel engine). It tows our 32" travel trailer very nicely, and the tow package takes the credit. But we are planning on our next trip across the plains for Thanks giving to take our new truck with the 4-wheel drive, just in case it snows.
