This is a real truck that is built for a purpose. The Cummins Engine is legendary for heavy towing and high reliability. I needed a truck for towing a trailer in excess of 8,000 lbs. and this truck is made for that task. Even the owner's manual indicates that the best performance that this truck can achieve is when it is towing a heavy load. The truck does have creature comforts, however, satellite radio, all of the power aminities, etc and it is very comfortable. If you need a real truck with a high towing capacity, Dodge has your vehicle. Buying a low milage used vehicle also makes it possible to own a truck like this without paying the high sticker price of a new one. I'm very pleased with my purchase and believe that I got a lot of value for my dollar.
One of the best 3/4 ton truck out there. Don't buy a Duramax, buy a Dodge with a Cummins if you want a truck that will last you a long time and if you want a truck for towing. Still one of the few with a solid front axle, and one of the best diesel engines available. The only complaint I would actually have with this truck, is the cracks in the dashboard, however that's something Dodge should have addressed since a lot of people get cracks in the dashboard on these truck, and they're not all small little cracks either. Other then that little problem, this engine has never failed me, it's gone through deep mud to pull other trucks out, it's towed many trailers, and never complained about it. The diesel mileage is great too, I drive it to work everyday, and I average 18mpg, I do have a programer (Edge Juice w/Attitude) and it really makes this engine come alive, I'd recommend getting one of those too. Buy one of these trucks, and you won't regret it, at least Dodge chose to use a Cummins engine, a brand that's been around for a long while, unlike Duramax.
Everything in it is well thought out and details matter. There are a few little things that you would expect in a truck at the highest trim level. For example, power folding mirrors. This truck has wide mirrors for towing and it would be nice to fit into a parking spot and fold the side mirrors with the push of a button. Similarly, front parking sensors and mud flaps would be appreciated. These are options that don't cost a lot more but should be standard features for the top of the line Longhorn Laramie Ram.
