One of the best 3/4 ton truck out there. Don't buy a Duramax, buy a Dodge with a Cummins if you want a truck that will last you a long time and if you want a truck for towing. Still one of the few with a solid front axle, and one of the best diesel engines available. The only complaint I would actually have with this truck, is the cracks in the dashboard, however that's something Dodge should have addressed since a lot of people get cracks in the dashboard on these truck, and they're not all small little cracks either. Other then that little problem, this engine has never failed me, it's gone through deep mud to pull other trucks out, it's towed many trailers, and never complained about it. The diesel mileage is great too, I drive it to work everyday, and I average 18mpg, I do have a programer (Edge Juice w/Attitude) and it really makes this engine come alive, I'd recommend getting one of those too. Buy one of these trucks, and you won't regret it, at least Dodge chose to use a Cummins engine, a brand that's been around for a long while, unlike Duramax.
A good truck for the money; a tough vehicle with a strong diesel engine that performs very well on and off the highway. I am getting an average of 19 MPG on the highway, which is very good, however, the cost of fuel remains high due to the price of diesel fuel. Everything works on the truck as it should, except that the RPM drops when the vehicle is shifted from D to R; not sure why but I am told by the dealer that this is normal. Overall, I like the truck.
I was looking for some time for an affordable diesel Ram 2500. My search ended at CarMax. I got an incredible deal for a Turbo Diesel truck. I paid a small amount to have an independent mechanic inspect the vehicle. Carmax made the small repairs necessary to rate the truck 100%. The good people at the CarMax store stood behind their work and even made sure I left with a full tank of fuel.
