It is very slow, I was not able to do a very long test drive due to the weather, or I would have seen how slow it is. it gets great gas millage but no get up and go.
Great deal on a fantastic car!

The Ford Escape is perfect for a one person driver! It rides well and has ample space without being overwhelming to drive. The back seat folds down providing extra space if needed for packing in luggage for a long trip. The 6 CD changer is fanastic and the sound is excellent.

Coming from a compact car, this is the perfect size. It has ample room for four adults and expandable cargo room for larger items. I don't care what they say about 5 passengers, the 5th will be miserable back there so keep it at 4. V6 is nice and smooth compared to the 4 cylinder. 4 speed auto is ok but not great, probably why Ford went with 5 and 6 speeds later. Wouldn't mind being able to turn off the traction control and manually controlling the 4x4. Then again, when the ice hits, probably best to let the computer handle that if I'm doing emergency manuevers. Anyone that lives in Chicago or Milwaukee understands ice and snow hazards. Considerable stopping power with these brakes, which surprised me. Always heard SUVs are slow to stop. Overall I think this is a great little SUV for those that want 4x4 security, ample hauling ability with cooler styling than a Volvo wagon and you don't need a credit card to keep it full of gas.
Plus, you can accessorize the heck out of these little trucks. : )
