The Ford Escape is perfect for a one person driver! It rides well and has ample space without being overwhelming to drive. The back seat folds down providing extra space if needed for packing in luggage for a long trip. The 6 CD changer is fanastic and the sound is excellent.
This my second Ford Escape, and I love it even more than the first one. I appreciate the AWD on demand especially. My first escape was 4WD, and when I lived in Michigan, it was wonderful; with the new one, I don't have to decide when or if I need 4WD...the car decides for me! I also appreciate the airbags, in places I didn't even know I needed them, and the overall feeling of safety. My Escape is a 4-cylinder, but has as much pep as any 6-cylinder I've ever drivenwith the added bonus of much better gas mileage than a 6-cylinder. I've also taken this on many road trips, some of which didn't involve roads, and it always behaved beautifully, no matter the circumstances. I can't say enough good things about the Ford Escape. I highly recommend this SUV!
Very stable handling for an SUV. Minimal body roll in turns. The V-6 provides more than adequate performance with good mileage. It warms up quickly and delivers plenty of heat. Comfortable driving position, although the steering wheel seems a little far away for taller drivers. I prefer the old-style pivoting tilt steering wheel, as opposed to the newer wheel where the column moves up and down. Could also use a bigger, better positioned left-foot rest. Nice high-raising lift-gate, no problem with a six-footer banging their head on it when open. The rear seat headrests do constrict the rear view somewhat. The running boards are mounted so high as to be practically useless, and require a bit of a stretch to get in without bumping your leg on them. The layout of tandem cup-holders is a bit awkward, as is access to the center console storage. More padding on the lid of the console would make a better armrest, too. Overall, though, I'm very happy with my Escape. The audiophile sound system is very good, the interior is mostly well-laid out and user friendly, and there's plenty of front seat leg-room.
