This my second Ford Escape, and I love it even more than the first one. I appreciate the AWD on demand especially. My first escape was 4WD, and when I lived in Michigan, it was wonderful; with the new one, I don't have to decide when or if I need 4WD...the car decides for me! I also appreciate the airbags, in places I didn't even know I needed them, and the overall feeling of safety. My Escape is a 4-cylinder, but has as much pep as any 6-cylinder I've ever drivenwith the added bonus of much better gas mileage than a 6-cylinder. I've also taken this on many road trips, some of which didn't involve roads, and it always behaved beautifully, no matter the circumstances. I can't say enough good things about the Ford Escape. I highly recommend this SUV!
Coming from a compact car, this is the perfect size. It has ample room for four adults and expandable cargo room for larger items. I don't care what they say about 5 passengers, the 5th will be miserable back there so keep it at 4. V6 is nice and smooth compared to the 4 cylinder. 4 speed auto is ok but not great, probably why Ford went with 5 and 6 speeds later. Wouldn't mind being able to turn off the traction control and manually controlling the 4x4. Then again, when the ice hits, probably best to let the computer handle that if I'm doing emergency manuevers. Anyone that lives in Chicago or Milwaukee understands ice and snow hazards. Considerable stopping power with these brakes, which surprised me. Always heard SUVs are slow to stop. Overall I think this is a great little SUV for those that want 4x4 security, ample hauling ability with cooler styling than a Volvo wagon and you don't need a credit card to keep it full of gas. Plus, you can accessorize the heck out of these little trucks. : )
My husband and I are so pleased with our Ford Escape. We had to haul household items to the dump and our cargo space allowed us the room to do it. We can't wait to take it on a field trip to experience it's comfort and performance. I will definitely consider buying another Escape in the future.
