Used 2011 Ford Expedition Limited in Dulles, VA for Sale
Reviews for 2011 Ford Expedition
Expedition is a very big car with great mileage
At first I was apprehensive about trading my trusty 2003 honda pilot with more than 280k miles for this big Ford SUV. However, my kids are much older, and bigger, and so we need more room. My biggest concern was the mileage. I saw that the sticker for the 4WD say 13/18, and that scared me a bit. However, I was VERY pleasantly surprised that the mileage is much better. On freeway, I would drive from San Jose to Los Angeles on hwy 5 with average speed of about 70mph, and the average mpg based on the Expedition display is about 22mpg. When I am driving in the city, picking up the kids from school, it averages around 16.5. Mixed driving is about 18-19mpg. Believe it or not this is BETTER than my Honda Pilot! How can that be? I suspect it is because of the better gearing on the Ford Expedition. On the freeway, at 65mph, the Expedition is going along at about 1600 rpm! As to comfort, this is much better than the honda pilot that we had. The kids are able to lean their back seats back and sleep. The middle seat can actually move up 11" so if you have a baby, the baby can be up close nearer to the front. Performance wise, it's a mix. Generally, I wish there was a bit more power, especially going from a complete stop. Also, when climbing hills, I don't why, but the car refuse to upshift unless you gas it a bit. I generally just manually pull the shift to 3rd gear. Of course, if there were more power, the gas would not be that great. Overall, for the price, I think you get great compromise between economy and comfort. I would highly recommend this car. By the way, we looked at the Tahoe/Yukon and did not like the fact that the third seats were very low to the ground. It's like an afterthought. Your kids would not be able to sit long. On the Expedition, the third row seats fold all the way back, and when up, it is almost as nice as the second seats of our Honda Pilot. We also looked at the Armada, and did not like the third seats either. We did not have a chance to look at the Toyota Sequoia because that was out of our price range.
Smooth ride and lots of room!
Interior is spacious. My husband is 6'5" and is finally comfortable in my car. I got the LTD premium edition so it's loaded with features, including 4WD with 4auto. My kids love the 3rd row seating too. A great family vehicle all around.
