Having driven many other SUVs and pickups, I find that driving the Expedition rides beautifully.. very smooth and luxurious! It also has a tight turn radius so that I can still do the U-term in the road to get to the mailbox (which I couldn't do with a Corvette or pickup). I've been getting 15-17mpg, even without using cruise control on the highway. And of course the amount of cargo space is incredible!
Despite having high mileage, this car runs like new! My Jeep Commander that I bought for my wife brand new was always in the shop but the Expedition has only given us one problem but it was a problem that could've happened with any car. Mine and my wife's favorite thing about the Expy is that it doesn't drive like a rig. It handles turns with minimal lean and has good power. Only thing I hate about it is the position of the steering wheel. I'm 5'9 and feel like I have to drive like a grandma since the wheel is so far away. Definitely one of the best cars we've had in the family.
A great feature of our 2006 Ford Expedition XLT is that it is able to carry up to eight passengers. The second row features a small center seat that slides forward to access to the rear seat. The cargo area is large with the second and third seats folded down. The second row seats are easy to fold down. The third row seats are capable of holding two adults in comfort. The flat cargo area is perfect for our hauling needs. The lift gate window opens with the remote which is convenient when loading groceries, etc., thus avoiding having to lift the entire lift gate. We like the wide angle rear view mirror, rear air condition, overhead storage, and the center console which has generous storage space. The tire pressure safety feature which displays low pressure has already been of assistance before we left the car lot. The front and rear door handles are very functional. The running board and interior assist grips make it easy for people of all ages to get in or out. Driving the Expedition is a pleasure. The brakes are responsive and very smooth. The steering is sharp and quick with no steering wheel play. The ride is good for a large SUV even over rough roads. The 5.4L engine is very good at accelerating in tight traffic, making it a pleasure to drive with confidence. In summary, the Expedition XLT is a winner.
