Despite having high mileage, this car runs like new! My Jeep Commander that I bought for my wife brand new was always in the shop but the Expedition has only given us one problem but it was a problem that could've happened with any car. Mine and my wife's favorite thing about the Expy is that it doesn't drive like a rig. It handles turns with minimal lean and has good power. Only thing I hate about it is the position of the steering wheel. I'm 5'9 and feel like I have to drive like a grandma since the wheel is so far away. Definitely one of the best cars we've had in the family.
if someone didn't know much or hadn't had a nicer SUV before, then they would like it. or if they liked driving ford trucks. But for me, it was boring, top heavy, missing features, slow, hard to take turns, styling hasn't changed since...ever, looks like an Explorer King Ranch Edition is nice, i guess, only difference is brown saddle leather seats, which feel like sitting on a saddle...on a horse, very hard, not comfortable, i could never get comfortable with the seat/steering wheel location, never felt like the right spot. Every bump you hit left aftershocks that bounced on forever. Had this for 3 months, tried to like it, sometimes did like it, then realized, i just didn't like it...
Overall, I am very pleased with this vehicle. Ford redesigned the Expedition in 2003 and has done a fine job. Exterior appearance is so much better than before with a cleaner, lower front and rear and nicer lines. The ride is very, very good for a vehicle built on a truck chassis, but you will know that it is based on a truck. ERxcellent performance and towing capability. SOme interior components are a little cheap looking (air vents on the dash come to mind), and the leather on the rear seats appears to be of a lesser quality than the fron seats. It is a great family vehicle and fantastic on a road trip!
