2013 Ford ExpeditionParick - Chicago Ridge, IL01/21/2015
my wife and i tow a travel trailer ,we do like to travel and consider the trip to
a chosen destination as part of the experience.the Expedition has a smooth
ride,no wind noise, has a factory tow package and ample room for friends and
pets, with fold flat rear seats lots of cargo room if needed. At high-way speeds can have conversation with out having to talk loud.comes from Ford nicely equipted .climate ,sounds and able to tow easily.our expedition is an XLT
which is not all the bells whistles yet has more extras built in than we will use.
very nice Ford if you tow or have big family the way to go.
1998 Buyer Beware
1998 Ford ExpeditionSoaringPilot - Atlanta, GA11/24/2006
Overall the truck has been very useful and has a ton of room in it. The engine is strong and performs well. The problem is the reliability and costs to maintain.
Fords are supposed to have a reputation of unmatched reliability and longevity...and that may be correct if you keep pouring money in it.
The differential had to be rebuilt, the heater core had to be replaced (and there is still rust in the system). The cooling is starting to die and to top it off, at 140,000 miles (with less than 1 yr old plugs) a spark plug blew out of the engine requiring a $3600 repair. After researching, this is not an isolated incident and not very rare at all in any of the Ford Triton engines.
Just do a search on FORD SPARK PLUG PROBLEMS and see what you find. It's a great truck for the room and performance...but gets a big "F" for reliability.
A good choice when we downsized
2014 Ford ExpeditionKenneth Bostick - Pie Town, NM10/25/2015
This replaced our 2000 Excursion v-10. We were to get a V-8 with enough power and towing capacity, and four wheel drive like we had in the Excursion. The only down side is that the Expedition is 20 inches shorter. There are times when we miss that extra 20 inches.
The Ford F-150, the top-searched vehicle on carmax.com in 2017, has a heck-raising version called the SVT Raptor. Love it or not, the Ford Raptor is impossible to ignore. It rules the road (and dirt, mud, sand, etc.)!
SUVs are known for not just their seating and towing capacity, but their versatile cargo space and capable performance. In the market for a midsize SUV? Check out three of our best-selling midsize SUVs from January through September 2017.
