Transmission: Automatic Color: Blue Avg. Vehicle Review: 4 (89 reviews) "This is a unique vehicle for someone with unique needs. It's not a pickup truck; 'real truck' owners tend to want the old-fashioned leaf spring, live axle and a 'locked or open, no other choice' 4WD system. They don't know what they're missing. The '07-'01 Sport Trac comes with independent front and rear suspension, and a sophisticated RWD drivetrain with Traction-on-Demand (that's the actual name that Borg Warner uses for this AWD/4WD system a.k.a. 'AdvanceTrac', Ford's brand name). Its drivetrain and suspension literally have more in common with a Lamborghini than a pickup truck, which is precisely why I chose it. Whether in SUV trim or in Sport Trac trim, this is a vehicle for people who drive on roads that can get treacherous, and want mainly RWD performance, along with a seamless transition to more traction as needed. I don't want to go to mud bogs, or drive over rocks; I just want a solid body-on-frame vehicle that can get me through the worst weather. That's not to say that it can't go off-road, though. Why choose the Sport Trac over the Explorer SUV? For me, it was a matter of visibility. I tried several SUVs, and didn't like the many blind spots to the rear. I can handle the blind spots in my Mustang, but not twice as many in a much larger vehicle! I was delighted to find that the features offered by the Sport Trac, the bed, the power rear window etc. all suited my needs well. The tonneau cover and in-bed compartments keep stuff hidden away from prying eyes, which I didn't like about the SUV layout. One more bonus: my 86-year-old mother, who needs a walker to get around, absolutely loves getting in and out of my Sport Trac! I was afraid that it would be too high for her, but she says that it's just right. I am somewhat disappointed with the less than expected output of the 3-valve 4.6l V-8. The same motor makes the new Mustangs so hot, but it lacks something in the Sport Trac. That's something that I can fix with aftermarket parts... Get 'em while they last. This is the last of the smallest Ford V-8, body-on-frame, primarily RWD-but AWD sport ute. Starting in 2010-2011, the platform on which the Sport Trac is based will go away, to be replaced by a wimpy 'crossover' unibody, primarily FWD (transverse engine), gutless paper tiger platform -- just like all of the other gigantic economy car platforms that are now dominating the SUV market."

Transmission: Automatic Color: Silver Avg. Vehicle Review: 4 (89 reviews) "Bought one new in 2004. Have had minimal issues considering the time I've had the truck. A transmission sensor (which was under recall) when I got the truck. A fuel sensor went out, Front end needed new ball joints and a radiator replacement. Had the Sportrac for 12 yrs and it still runs like a champ."
